This episode is the beginning of the end. The end of the Middle Ages that is. Every scholar arranges the historical phases or eras of the papacy in slightly different ways. I’m no scholar, but I want to get in the game anyway. I made a case for the Papacy having an incredibly long phase that lasted from 752 to 1878.
