Worship | 1 Corinthians 14:26-40
21/07/2019 Duración: 45minIn the final paragraph of our study in 1 Cor. 12-14, Paul addresses some important and controversial subjects regarding the worship gathering. -- Four statements to summarise what we’ve learned in this series: 1. Every believer, both male and female, young and old, is gifted to minister in the church. Pastors, Priests, and ‘Professional religious people’ aren’t more qualified to receive or exercise spiritual gifts. “A manifestation of the Spirit is given to each person for the common good”. -- 2. Spiritual gifts are designed primarily for the building up of the church. They ought to move you outside of yourself to serve others for the common good. -- 3. Spiritual gifts exercised without love are worse than useless, they are irritating and offensive. “A noisy gong or a clanging cymbal”. Gifts will cease when Jesus returns, but love lasts forever. -- 4. Tongues and prophecy are more susceptible to abuse, and some of us have suffered as a result. However, the antidote to these dangers is not to despise t

Tongues | 1 Corinthians 14:1-25
15/07/2019 Duración: 49min“...contrary to the opinion of many, spiritual edification can take place in ways other than through the cortex of the brain. Paul believed in an immediate communing with God by means of the Spirit that sometimes bypassed the mind...” - Gordon Fee, The First Epistle to the Corinthians -- While the primary purpose of spiritual gifts is the building up of the corporate church, Paul’s description of tongues in 1 Corinthians identifies it primarily as a form of prayer for self-edification. -- Preacher: Jonathan Smith Series: Gifted Passage: 1 Corinthians 14:1-25 Subscribe: apple.co/2Jht9Cs More: www.reddoorchurch.com.au

Prophecy | 1 Corinthians 14:1-19
09/07/2019 Duración: 48min"This is not a suggestion or mere advice or wise counsel. This is a divine command, a mandate from God himself. If you and I are not earnestly desiring spiritual gifts, especially prophecy, we are disobedient... -- This is not an issue for prayer. You do not respond to this passage by saying, “Well, ok, I’ll pray about it.” No. You don’t pray about whether or not you are going to obey God. God is not giving us a choice. He’s giving us a command. The only choice you have is whether or not you are going to obey." - Sam Storms -- Preacher: Jonathan Smith Series: Gifted Passage: 1 Corinthians 14:1-19 Subscribe: apple.co/2Jht9Cs More: www.reddoorchurch.com.au

The Way Of Love | 1 Corinthians 13
01/07/2019 Duración: 35minIf love for others doesn’t govern how we use our spiritual gifts, then they’re not only worthless, they’re irritating, and potentially dangerous. -- Preacher: Jonathan Smith Series: Gifted Passage: 1 Corinthians 13 Subscribe: apple.co/2Jht9Cs More: www.reddoorchurch.com.au

Body Building | 1 Corinthians 12:14-31
24/06/2019 Duración: 45minGod has gifted each believer in different ways in order to build a healthy ‘body of believers’ called the church. Be Filled With The Spirit | 1 Corinthians 12:7-13
16/06/2019 Duración: 43minChristians should pursue experiences of the Spirit in which we are anointed and empowered by His intimate presence. This is what the Bible calls the “filling” of the Spirit. -- "A man and his little child [are] walking down the road and they are walking hand in hand, and the child knows that he is the child of his father, and he knows that his father loves him, and he rejoices in that, and he is happy in it. There is no uncertainty about it all, but suddenly the father, moved by some impulse, takes hold of the child and picks him up, [cradles] him in his arms, kisses him, embraces him, showers his love upon him, and then he puts him down again and they go on walking together. That is it! The child knew before that his father loved him, and he knew that he was his child. But oh! the loving embrace, this extra outpouring of love, this unusual manifestation of it — that is the kind of thing. The Spirit bearing witness with our spirit that we are the children of God.” - Thomas Goodwin (quoted by Martyn Lloy

11/06/2019 Duración: 39minThe charismatic gift of faith, distinct from converting & continuing faith, is typically given by God for a specific time and purpose - often in order to empower a believer to exercise gifts of healings and/or miracles. -- Preacher: Jonathan Smith Series: Gifted Passage: 1 Corinthians 12:4-11 Subscribe: apple.co/2Jht9Cs More: www.reddoorchurch.com.au

A Manifestation Of The Spirit | 1 Corinthians 12:4-11
27/05/2019 Duración: 39minGod wills that we desire spiritual gifts, not to pursue our own fame, but to selflessly strengthen others — “so that the church may be built up” (1 Cor. 14:5). Gifts of knowledge/wisdom and discernment are “revelatory” gifts because they are (often) concerned with something the Holy Spirit reveals that could not otherwise be known. -- Preacher: Jonathan Smith Series: Gifted Passage: 1 Corinthians 12:4-11 Subscribe: apple.co/2Jht9Cs More: www.reddoorchurch.com.au

Reformed, Sacramental, & Charismatic | 1 Corinthians
21/05/2019 Duración: 43minAt Red Door we believe in the ‘convergence’ of three Christian traditions: 1) the centrality of the Gospel and the authority of the Scriptures (Reformed); 2) the necessity of regularly participating in Baptism and Communion, and the employment of liturgy that connects us to the universal church through time (Sacramental); and 3) the validity and practice of all spiritual gifts in the life of the local church (Charismatic). -- Preacher: Jonathan Smith Series: Gifted Passage: 1 Corinthians Subscribe: apple.co/2Jht9Cs More: www.reddoorchurch.com.au

13/05/2019 Duración: 49minThe church at Corinth is a mess! On the one hand, they have gratefully received the Gospel and pursued all the gifts of the Spirit, but on the other hand, they are living in a way that makes a mockery of Jesus’ call to discipleship. -- Preacher: Jonathan Smith Series: Gifted Passage: 1 Corinthians Subscribe: apple.co/2Jht9Cs More: www.reddoorchurch.com.au

The Heart Of Things | Mark 7
18/03/2019 Duración: 48minThe desire of the Pharisees to live a holy life is commendable; however, they have substituted a heart-felt desire for holiness with empty tradition-keeping, devoid of love for God and man. Jesus presents a radical, life-giving alternative. -- Preacher: Jonathan Smith Series: God And Man Passage: Mark 7 Subscribe: apple.co/2Jht9Cs More: reddoorchurch.com.au
