Yesterday, my friend Debbie sent me a powerful picture of a man clinging to the Cross, posted by Jennifer Brooks. Her post encouraged us that no matter what anxiety, grief, or horror story you or I are going through right now, "Just cling." This reminded me of the story in John 20:11-18, where Mary Magdalene was standing outside Jesus' tomb, crying. Two angels sitting there, one where His head had lain and one where His feet were, asked her why she was crying and who she was looking for. She said, "They have taken my Lord away, I don't know where they have put Him." Then Jesus appeared to her, but she didn't know that it was Him and presumed Him to be the gardener. Jesus asked her the same question: "Woman, why are you crying? Who is it that you are looking for?" Her response was a little amusing. She told Him that if He had carried Jesus away, to tell her where He was and she would go get Him. How would she, a woman alone, drag Jesus' body away with her? Jesus then said her name, "Mary," and she immediately

Before the start of a new year, my husband Ray and I pray about the coming year for God's presence to be with us, and for His protection, wisdom, guidance, and blessings upon us, our children, our grandchildren, and other loved ones. Are you following Jesus, or looking at the other disciple? In John 21:22, Jesus commanded Peter to follow Him, after Peter asked Jesus, "What about him?" (referring to the other disciple). Jesus told him not to worry about John. You and I don't need to worry about what other people are doing and saying, but to keep our eyes on Jesus and to stay in our lane, following and obeying Him. The Queen of Sheba came to King Solomon as she heard of his great wisdom and wanted to meet him and see the riches of his kingdom. Recently I flew from Kansas City, Missouri to Fort Meyers, Florida to attend Minister Kay Nash's prophetic women's conference on Saturday. I knew that the day before, Friday, was the only time I would have to go to the beach/ocean, which is my place of happiness and peace. I reserved an Uber ride before I left for my trip to pick me up at the airport to go straight to the beach. I was so excited when I got to the beach, that I got distracted and left my travel purse in the back seat of the Uber where I was sitting, with everything in it - my iPhone, my driver's license, my passport, my keys, over $200 cash, my bank cards, and papers printed out for my hotel and plane flights' info. God did a miracle with my purse and I still got to the beach a little while. He is so good. Do you thank God each day for His blessings and help? In Luke 17:11-19 NKJV, Jesus encountered 10 lepers, who cried out to Him for mercy and healing. He told them to go show themselves to the priest (who would proclaim them healed and cleansed and restored to society). Only one of the lepers, a Samaritan, saw that he was cleansed and returned to thank Jesus with a loud voice. Each day we need to thank God for what He has done, is doing, and will do. Gratitude can change your life and mine. It is like lighting a candle each morning to dispel the darkness in this world. Let's cultivate a thankful heart to God, like the leper who returned to thank and glorify Jesus. It's back to school time, which is always exciting for kids buying new supplies. I feel the same way as a business owner, buying new office supplies. I'm like a kid in a candy shop when the stores have school supplies sales! My challenge and question for you this week is what are you learning? I'm doing two new things lately: I recently began attending a new church and joined a ladies' Bible study, which is on Sally Clarkson's book, Own Your Life, and I'm leading a Progress Pod for my writing coaches CJ and Shelley Hitz's Christian Book Academy membership site for writers.
