Grant submitted his question and this is what he wanted to know: I don't know if this is something you'd be able to answer, but if so, your guidance would really be appreciated. I have been running now for 2 years and am planning on doing my first Comrades Marathon next year. The shoe wear on my right shoe is much worse than the left shoe (the left shows no wear while the right shows major wear that appears to be from heel striking) and when I start ramping up the mileage to 50-60km + per week, I get the onset of shin splints only on the right side. The Up Run – Is it harder than the Comrades Marathon Down Run?
14/07/2014 Duración: 03minThe question Lindsey answers on today’s episode of the Ask Coach Parry Podcast has again got to do with the Comrades Marathon up run. Vicky submitted it as she is concerned about how tough the up run is compared to the down run. Her question is a follows:I entered my first comrades this year but became very tired. I got to Drummond in 6:05 and called it quits at Drummond as I did not think I would make the 12-hour cut off. I am very disappointed as I trained really hard for the Comrades Marathon. I want to try the Comrades up run, but I can only imagine how hard it is if the Comrades Marathon down run was this hard. Please help! – Vicky Read More · Training Programs · www.CoachParry.com

How to finish the Comrades Marathon with a marathon pb of 4:45
08/07/2014 Duración: 03minIf you've ever wondered if you can finish the Comrades Marathon this is for you. The next question for Lindsey Parry comes all the way from Dundee in Scotland. Chris Toll says he is an 85kg, 51 year old back of the pack runner. He has run/walked 7 marathons in the last 3 years and his quickest was his latest one in Edinburgh in May where he did 4.45. Chris says he is never going to be a fast runner but he is ready for a challenge to get the hairs on the back of his neck to stand up. He thinks the Comrades Marathon might just be it. Chris however is afraid that he may not be up to it. He would to love to visit South Africa again, and the most iconic marathon in the world would just be the cherry on top. Chris asked if the right goal for him is to finish the Comrades Marathon and is it achievable. He also wanted to know if the 12 hour (Vic Clapham) training programme or 11 hour (Bronze) training programme would be most suitable. Most importantly he asked if he can finish the Comrades Marathon?
