The Kingdom of God was the central theme of the teaching of Jesus. It is not, as some Christians suppose, a political movement. It is, as Jesus taught, a spiritual kingdom that involves the miraculous transformation of a person's soul.

The great Jewish hope was that Yahweh (God) would send the Messiah who would establish the Kingdom of God. The prophet Daniel was shown that several world empires would arise after the Babylonian empire, and then the Kingdom of the Messiah would come. This would be unlike any previous kingdom, because it would be an everlasting kingdom. When the Messiah did come, He taught that entering into Kingdom should be every person's highest priority. But to enter it would require receiving a miraculous spiritual transformation.
