On this episode of Michigan WIld, Nate's riding solo. He is breaking down his early antlerless Michigan hunts. The early antlerless hunt is a 2 day hunt usually around the 3rd weekend of September. This is the 2nd year Nate took part in the hunt and found himself punching 2 tags.Last fall Nate was able to shoot 1 doe with archery equipment, but this year he decided on breaking in a new rifle and had a desire to shoot more than 1 deer. After doing some research and scouting throughout the summer he understood that he needed to do his part and shoot more does. In this week's episode we'll be re-capping both an unsuccessful and a successful hunt from opening week in the state of Maryland with our previous guest Mike Rebert! Mike and I go over the details of what type of terrain, sign and details he keyed in on to achieve success in locating a concentration of deer, and ultimately having success harvesting a buck! Mike also killed a doe the same week, utilizing the same terrain feature. We talk about how bucks will use even the slightest changes in topography to their advantage to move through the woods undetected. John is coming at you live from Kansas this week on the Oklahoma Outdoors Podcast. John took his mobile studio with him and recorded updates throughout the week in a semi-live format. After covering a lot of miles, John saw a couple really nice bucks and put himself in position to take a really nice 10 point. He still can't explain what happened, but it is quite a story as to how that buck didn't get a ride back home in the back of John's truck.
