Gina and Jacob Bourrett own Tappecue, a Missouri based company who produce the original cloud based, wifi enabled, meat thermometers.  Seeing a niche for a hardware unit with a heart of software that could connect to the cloud and be on any smart device,  Tappecue was launched.  Their first unit is a 4 stereo port that can handle 8 probes or 4 dual probes (internal and chamber thermometers in one probe).  These are wired probes.  Recently launched are Tappecue’s Air Probes that are bluetooth connected to a smart device.  These probes are wireless making them very versatile for applications where wires would be an issue.   Knowing that probes are not new to the market, and come as an added feature on grills and smokers, Tappecue separates itself as a stand alone thermometer which can be used on your existing setup or even on your next upgrade.  Not to mention its accuracy of +-2 degrees.  Tappecue is a family owned business, who manufactures the whole product in Missouri, including the circuit boards.  The sof

Ted Bright is one of those guys who takes an above average approach to overall health and wellness. Fitness and hunting are both large contributors, with most of his meat consumption coming from wild game, be it venison, wild turkey, or even other "non traditional" types of meat. In this podcast we discuss Ted's primary approach to cooking venison, how he ages meat, why he likes to cook large amounts, like a whole shoulder, at once, and how he incorporates planned secondary dishes from leftovers of the primary meal. Every year we do a review of our hunting season and discuss how we feel things went for us individually.  This week we share that conversation with the listeners of the podcast.  Unless you live in a cave you know the world was hit with a global pandemic that caused many people to change their plans in 2020 and that included some plans relating to our seasons.  However, we still managed to get a fair amount of time in the field and even try a few new things.  Jeff began his journey into waterfowl hunting with limited success which played a role in his overall season success.  Jason had one of his more challenging seasons in recent memory, but definitely learned some valuable lessons along the way. Jacob took advantage of his property to meet some harvest goals he had set to start the season and therefore had a fairly successful season.  Overall, 2020 left plenty of room for improvement for all of us but we look forward to using some of the things we learned to have a more successful 2021 season.   Ohio Huntsm

As many hunting seasons are coming to a close around the country, landowners have the options of what they will focus on next. Often times, we see folks choosing  "steel" traps over the "Stihl" chainsaw for the purpose of improving the land for game species - WRONG MOVE! The research is clear and the long term benefits of working diligently on the habitat far outweigh the temporary void created by removing a predator.  If we want to make a difference for game species, we have to be honest with our evaluations of the habitat and how we utilize our time in the field.
