FOUNDRYsermon 10.11.15: You Aren't Done
13/10/2015 Duración: 21minI remember the first time I heard the word. “You’ve got to be sanctified”…mumbled from a half-toothed caricature of a depression era southern child. It was just one of the many fast-paced scenes from the movie “O Brother Where Art Thou”. I never thought much about the word until I had experienced it myself. This week, we are looking at the #DoOver we find in the story of Peter. Peter was one of the disciples of Jesus. Many people would say he was Jesus’ right hand man, taking care of things, part of his inner circle, privy to amazing experiences and ultimately the rock upon whom the Church would be built. But Peter was also a bumbling idiot. One of Peter’s most infamous bumbles was the denial of Jesus Christ during his trial. But in just a few weeks we see a dramatically different Peter in the book of Acts. He goes from a bumbling follower, nearly incompetent…to a tremendous leader serving as the vocal mouthpiece of the movement of Jesus Christ, affecting thousands in Jerusalem. What can do this? Sanctificati

FOUNDRYsermon 10.4.15: It's Not About Your Head...It's About Your Heart
13/10/2015 Duración: 26minMeetings. We have meetings every day. Some of them are serious and some of them are just for fun. When was the last time you walked into a meeting that was significantly more serious than you expected? It’s never fun getting blindsided. For me, it is usually not being aware of something pretty big to someone else. I am not aware of the whole picture. Jesus has a secret meeting one night with a religious leader. Folks everywhere are talking about who Jesus is, who Jesus isn’t, what he is capable of, what is going to do for them or not do for them. People are fighting for his attention, putting words and actions into his mouth. So a secret meeting happens. With the last person we would expect to be seeking out Jesus. And a heck of a #DoOver happens. One that rewrites hundreds of years history in the heart of a man named Nicodemus. This #DoOver isn’t because of a mistake, but Jesus rewrites the way Nicodemus sees the entire world. And this is a #DoOver we all need to have happen to us.

FOUNDRYsermon: 9.27.15 God Breaks In Our Mess
28/09/2015 Duración: 25minNobody lives in a bubble. Things that other people do affect our lives … sometimes we need a #DoOver not because of what we do or the choices we make but because of what other people do to us. Sometimes these kind of #DoOver moments leave us simply frustrated and sometimes the are life altering. This week in worship we are going to talk about one of those life altering situations by looking at the story of a woman named Bathsheba. Yes, this is the Bathsheba of King David and Bathsheba and yes it is a messy story, a story characterized by abuse of power, deceit, death, grief and multiple situations calling for a #DoOver. In fact, this story is so messy it is hard to see anything other than the mess. But if we look again then we see something else, we discover what God is up to IN the mess. We’ll see how God breaks into Bathsheba’s story, our stories and what any of this has to do with one of our favorite Foundry hashtags #jesusisbigenough

FOUNDRYsermon. 9.20. Redemption is Linked to Response
23/09/2015 Duración: 32min#DoOver’s almost necessitate something happening first. Mine usually revolve around either rushing something or putting my foot in my mouth. I would say these two situations make up around 85% of my do over moments. But what if a do over involves a fundamental shift or change? What if it involves something you aren’t necessarily responsible for…but is more of an inherited situation? Makes things a little more complicated…doesn’t it? This week in worship we are going to talk about a woman named Rahab. She was a…well, how do we put this lightly? Or should we even put it lightly? Rahab was a prostitute. Part of a systemic oppression, most likely out of her control. Rehab lived in a town called Jericho. It was an important town with a really big wall. And it was the first time the gigantic group of people known as the Hebrews encountered when they finished their generation of wilderness wandering and crossed over into the land God was giving them to live in. Rahab ended up meeting two spies sent to case out the c
