Michael, hailing from Germany, and classically trained, has a unique style of playing that ranges from Paco De Lucia and Stravinsky to Jimi Hendrix and Pink Floyd. Rick, is an American composer and producer based in Los Angeles. He produced Rickie Lee Jones' album "Ghostyhead and played on Belinda Carlisle's 1988 album "Heaven On Earth." Rick's music has been used in all sorts of films, TV and commercials. It's a night of great playing and technique!!

    Last week, August 19th, marked the 100 year anniversary of Orville Gibson's death. Sharon and Gregg De Lorto return to the show to talk more about the fascinating life of Orville Gibson! We will get an update on their ongoing documentary on Orville and we will be joined by several special guests. Custom inlay specialist David Nichols will be joining us, as will Dick Decosse, owner of Dick's Country Store. Also harp guitar expert, collector, and historian Gregg Miner will be here to as well as photographer/historian Mark Bugnaski. We will explore more of Orville's life, the history of Orville's guitar shop and factory, and also some of the ground breaking developments by Orville that made Gibson guitars such a vital part of our musical history!!

    It's a night of great jazz and great tone!! My guest is Larry Koonse. Having studied with legend Jimmy Wyble, Larry was the first recipient of a Bachelor of Music in Jazz Studies at USC. He has toured with such greats as Mel Torme, Natalie Cole and many more. As a session guitarist, Larry has played on albums with Rod Stewart, Linda Ronstadt, Peter Erskine, Cleo Laine, Al Hirt among many others. Larry has written a guitar curriculum for the Player's School, founded by bassist Jeff Berlin. He was a co-leader of the L.A. Jazz Quartet and member of Billy Child's landmark Jazz/Chamber sextet and has released numerous CDs working with some of the best jazz musicians in the business. He is currently a faculty member at the California Institute of the Arts. We talk to Larry about his amazing career, his music and, of course, his guitars!

Bernard sent me some new prototype guitar and bass strings Savarez is planning to release soon. We will take a look at this new set of strings and get to compare it to their current popular Hexagonal Explosion series of strings. G&L Guitars have been very kind to supply us with identical basses and guitars to make a precise comparison between the strings. Joining me for the test are amazing guitarists Steve Fister and Tony Pulizzi, and to test the bass strings my good friend Prescott Niles will be joining us.
