  • 57 - Old Man Jackman: The LOGAN Review!

    06/03/2017 Duración: 01h23min

17 years ago, an unknown Aussie by the name of Hugh Jackman took on what seemed an impossible task: to breath life into the most popular X-Men character, in the franchise's very first live-action adaptation. His interpretation not only made him a star, but would go on to become one of the most beloved, iconic comic book movie performances of all time. Now, nine movies later, an era comes to a close, as Jackman plays Wolverine one last time in the brand new film LOGAN. In this episode, we give our full review. Is it a worthy swan-song for Jackman's version of the character? What about Patrick Stewart, also potentially leaving the series after this? How important is the much-discussed R rating to the film? Is the introduction of X-23 to the X-MEN franchise an effective one? And...did we cry? All this, and much more, in an in-depth discussion of the movie. Needless to say, SPOILERS abound in this episode, so approach with caution if you have not yet seen LOGAN. Also, some very quick thoughts on the pre-LOGAN tea

  • 56 - We Are Legion

    20/02/2017 Duración: 01h14min

LEGION is here! Join us as we share our thoughts on the first two episodes of the new FX series from Noah Hawley. Is it truly "the best superhero TV show ever," as many reviews have said? What is it doing right that the other comic shows are doing wrong? Is it too weird for TV? Too smart? How much liberty does it take with its X-Men source material, and does it even matter? All of this and much more is discussed. Also, we try to figure out what Sophie Turner meant when she recently said she'd be shooting the new X-MEN movie later this year. And we offer up our box office predictions for LOGAN, as we begin the countdown to Hugh Jackman's (supposedly) final turn as Wolverine. Also, speculation about what it means that Bryan Singer is directing the pilot of FOX's upcoming X-Men related show. And finally, the guys share their thoughts on what X-Men shows they would LIKE to see in the future.  Plus, more confusion over the LOGAN timeline, and a totally chill plea for ratings and reviews. • 54 - State of the X-Union

    23/01/2017 Duración: 01h29min

So...did you guys see that new LOGAN trailer? Trev & Joe sure did, and are here to share their thoughts on it. Does this new look make us even more excited than we were before? Are we satisfied with how X-23 looks in action? And what's the deal with those X-Men comic books? Plus, the guys also discuss rumors of a former James Bond playing Cable, the potential meaning/ramifications of SUPERNOVA as a future X-MEN movie title, and the surprising award show buzz surrounding DEADPOOL. Finally, as "Inhumans vs. X-Men" kicks off in the comic world, Trev checks in on the current state of the X-Men comic franchise, reviewing the main X-titles in the "All-New, All-Different Marvel" era. What are the highs and lows of each title? Which trade collections are worth picking up? And how will the post "Secret Wars" era of X-Men ultimately be remembered? Listen on and hear Trev's take. • 53 - New Year, New Mutants

    09/01/2017 Duración: 01h20min

It's a new year, and Trev and Joe are back after a holiday break to catch up on some X-MEN movie news. Topics of discussion include the apparent confirmation of James McAvoy's in Josh Boone's NEW MUTANTS, and the temporarily rumored (and then denied) Deadpool cameo in LOGAN. We also once again speculate on Hugh Jackman's post-LOGAN role in the X-MEN franchise, and what it would take to bring him back as Wolverine. Also, Joe shares his X-Men related Christmas gifts, and Trev gives his take on a few of the X-Men comics he was able to read during the break. Plus, thoughts on Jennifer Lawrence joking (?) about wanting to ditch X-MEN for GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY, and a review of STAR WARS: ROGUE ONE, because why not? • 52 - God Loves, Man Kills, We Review

    12/12/2016 Duración: 01h44min

It's one of the most famous X-Men stories of all time, and - as discussed in this episode - it suddenly feels as relevant as ever. This week, we take an in-depth look at Chris Claremont's classic 1982 graphic novel, "God Loves, Man Kills." Along with being the (loose) inspiration for X2: X-MEN UNITED, this story is also one of Claremont's highest accomplishments with the franchise. In fact, it might just be THE best X-Men story ever. Agree? Disagree? Listen to our thoughts, and let us know what you think. But first, in a segment we may or may not have already done in the past, Trev tries to guess who Wizard Magazine wanted to cast for the rumored X-MEN movie in 1995. Also, discussion of the apparent Fox X-MEN film franchise release schedule. And, Trev makes an impassioned plea for Marvel to once again make the X-Men comics franchise the socially relevant examination of racism and civil rights the world needs it to be right now. That's right - we're getting political again, with no apologies this time. Contact

  • 51 - Voice of the X-Men

    28/11/2016 Duración: 55min

Question: What are two things in need of a reboot? Answer: The X-MEN movie franchise, and Trev's voice. In this episode, a sick Trev bravely fights his own lost voice to join Joe in discussing the recent news of a potential "reboot" for Fox's X-MEN franchise. What does this news mean? Does Fox really have ANY idea what they are doing with the series? What direction SHOULD it take? We consider all the possibilities...or, well, at least some of them. Plus, we give our thoughts on the new DEADPOOL 2 director, Kevin Feige shooting down a Fox/MCU collaboration, the announcement of an INHUMAN television series, and DOCTOR STRANGE. Also, exactly five minutes of election talk. All this, and more, so give us a listen...if you can handle listening to Trev, that is. • 50 - When X-Men Went Weird: The NEW X-MEN Review

    14/11/2016 Duración: 01h16min

This week, we take an in-depth look at Grant Morrison's classic (and divisive) "NEW X-MEN" run. From 2001 to 2004, the Scottish writer completely upturned the idea of what an X-Men comic could be, in the most shocking reinvention of the franchise fans had ever seen yet. Less a traditional superhero story and more a warped, dark sci-fi epic, Morrison's time on "NEW X-MEN" continues to be one of the most discussed and analyzed periods in X-Men history...so now it's our turn to take a stab. The dissolution of Scott and Jean's relationship, the emergence of Emma Frost as a central X-Men character, the confusing tale of Xorn, and the introductions of Cassandra Nova, John Sublime, Quentin Quire, Fantomex and more - it' all here, as we take a look at the entire run, summarizing each story arc, and sharing some of our favorite characters, ideas and revelations. And don't worry...we promise this episode is a lot easier to follow and understand than a typical Grant Morrison story. Contact Days of Future Podcast at: fac

  • 49 - The Good, The Bad, and The Fox

    31/10/2016 Duración: 01h11min

There's a lot of big X-MEN news this week, and we're here to x-plore all of it. First up, a discussion of the recently announced new X-Men comic titles that will make up the line's 2017 relaunch, as part of Marvel's "Resurrxion" event. What do these new titles suggest about the future of X-Men comics, and why should fans of the '90s be excited about the two new core titles? Next, we take a look at both the good and the bad regarding the X-MEN movie universe, as this past week gave us both a new trailer for LOGAN, as well as some distressing news about director Tim Miller leaving DEADPOOL 2. We pick apart the LOGAN trailer, and share how it affects our current feelings about the movie, and then try to make some damn sense of this Miller situation, and what it might mean for the Deadpool franchise moving forward (Hint: it won't involve Quentin Tarantino). And we wrap it all up with our predictions of what and when the next actual X-MEN movie will be. All this and, of course, more of the off-topic tangents you'v

  • 48 - Fangs for the X-Perience

    17/10/2016 Duración: 01h30min

It's our second annual X-Tra Spooky Halloween Special, and this time, we actually prepared. To celebrate the scariest time of the year, we take an in-depth look at two classic horror-tinged X-Men stories from 1982: "Night Screams," from Uncanny X-Men #159, and "Blood Feud," from Uncanny X-Men Annual #6, both detailing Storm and her fellow X-Men's unexpected battle against Dracula! How do Marvel's merry mutants fare against the king of the vampires himself?  On a less frightening note, we also discuss the recent revelations about the upcoming LEGION television series, offer our thoughts on all the LOGAN movie news that just dropped, share our favorite classic Halloween specials, and take a moment to unbox some x-tremely generous listener mail. All this and more, so give us a listen....if you dare!! Contact Days of Future Podcast at: facebook.com/daysoffuturepodcast daysoffuturepodcast@gmail.com Twitter: @dofpodcast

  • 47 - Trev & Joe Go To White Castle

    03/10/2016 Duración: 54min

Remember X-MEN: APOCALYPSE? You might not, but the fast food chain White Castle certainly does. In a bit of odd timing, they just recently unveiled their special "X-Menu," in honor of the film's home video and digital release. Throwing all concerns for our safety aside, on this episode we do a live taste test of all four (well, three and a half) items from the special menu. So prepare to pray for your fearless hosts as they try the Ghost Pepper Cheese Slider, the X-Treme Ghost Pepper Cheese Slider, the Apocalyptic Waffle Slider, and Mutant Loaded Fries. Warning: If the sounds of people eating are not your bag, this might be as scary for you to listen to as it was for us to actually attempt. Besides the taste test experiment, we also try to figure out some of the other facets of White Castle's X-Men promotion, such as the offer of an "X-Diploma" and a contest to receive an "X-Men make-over." Plus, discussion of X-Men action figures and our own personal X-Men collectible collections, as well the lost potential

  • 46 - Sinister Things

    19/09/2016 Duración: 01h06min

On this episode, Trev & Joe attempt to explain one of the most inexplicable X-Men characters of them all, the super-villain Mister Sinister. Following the news that Sinister will appear in the new WOLVERINE movie, the guys discuss his comic book origins, appearance, wildly inconsistent powers and motives, and whether or not he's the proper villain to headline what is being billed as the final WOLVERINE film. All in the hope that, if we talk about Sinister enough, Bryan Cranston will ask to come on the show. Also, the guys ponder whether or not they will buy X-MEN: APOCALYPSE, while discussing the recent release of deleted scenes that shouldn't have been deleted. Plus, Trev's love of AMERICA'S GOT TALENT, Joe's ongoing search for the perfect potato chip, the wonders of online grocery shopping, America's reluctance to embrace the bidet, the myth of STAR TREK: TNG being a great show, STARGATE and its hundred spin-offs...all this, and more, in what is arguably one of our most off-topic episodes ever! • 45 - I Can't Believe It's Not Deadpool

    06/09/2016 Duración: 01h16min

"Who is Agent X?" That was the question on the lips of at least dozens of Marvel fans back in the year 2002, when the company cancelled its low-selling title DEADPOOL (no, seriously), and replaced it with a new book called AGENT X. While the titular character seemed to share a lot of traits with everyone's favorite Merc with a mouth, the mystery of his true identity, and how it ties into Wade Wilson, was in fact a driving force of the book. Trev hasn't read the book since it first came out, but Joe just recently read it for the first time. In this episode, Trev valiantly attempts to remember the plot-twists and reveals of the story, and both guys discuss the book's place as an odd footnote in Deadpool history, and whether it was a worthy temporary replacement still worth revisiting today. Also, more talk about the upcoming NEW MUTANTS movie, which has just announced its writers, and Bryan Singer's recent comments about the LEGION TV series tying into the movie universe. Plus, Doug Liman's exit from the GAMBIT

  • 44 - Summer X-lympics

    22/08/2016 Duración: 01h11min

Still have Olympic fever and nowhere to turn? Cheer up, because Trev & Joe have your back. On this episode, the guys assemble the best possible mutant Olympic team for various countries, and discuss which nation would have the best chance at various events as a result. Can anyone top Russia's Colossus in weight-lifting events? Is Wolverine's metal skeleton an advantage or a hindrance in swimming? How frustrating must it be to play Nightcrawler in basketball? And is Joe being kind of a jerk by even placing Charles Xavier on an Olympic team? All of these questions and more are answered. Also, the guys discuss the recent rumor of Kyle Chandler being cast as Cable, as well as news that Domino is also slated to be a part of the upcoming DEADPOOL 2. They also wonder why everyone is freaking out about recent photos showing an older looking Hugh Jackman, and Trev shares his thoughts on SUICIDE SQUAD. But first, an unexpected tangent about Joe Bob Briggs, Rhonda Shear, Gilbert Gottfried, and the disappointing mode

  • 43 - Sex-Men United

    09/08/2016 Duración: 01h22min

In this eagerly anticipated by no one episode, Trev finally plows into the next two Axel Braun X-Men porn parodies, WOLVERINE XXX and AVENGERS vs X-MEN XXX. Stained costumes, strange cliffhangers, and oddly specific comic book references...Trev has seen it all. And we do mean ALL. Are the films worth seeing for X-Men fans, or just average horn-dogs? Listen on, and find out. But first, Trev and Joe take a look at the LEGION trailer that was unveiled at San Diego Comic Con, as well as talk about the character of Legion and how they feel the character can be translated to television. Also, brief discussion on the critical response to SUICIDE SQUAD, the lack of a Cable casting announcement, and more. • 42 - The M-Word

    25/07/2016 Duración: 01h22min

Are you a hardcore X-Men fan looking for a lesser-known, obscure title to check out? In this episode, Trev & Joe dive deep into the back-issue bins and discover MUTIES, a 2002 six issue mini-series from writer Kurt Bollers and a team of various artists (including THE WALKING DEAD's Charlie Adlard). The guys discuss each issue of the series, which takes an unflinching look at the lives of young mutants that are never pulled into the X-Men's world. Also, Trev & Joe break-down the recent news about a new X-Men television series being developed for Fox, sharing their thoughts on what they think and hope the show will be. Also, talk of Pokemon Go, Jeff Fahey, a lackluster San Diego Comic Con, Ghost Rider coming to Agents of SHIELD, the new Ghostbusters movie, and Sonic the Hedgehog cartoons. Trust us, it all sort of makes sense. Contact Days of Future Podcast at: facebook.com/daysoffuturepodcast daysoffuturepodcast@gmail.com Twitter: @dofpodcast

  • 41 - X-Men Origins: Wolverine Audio Commentary

    11/07/2016 Duración: 02h15min

Well, it's time. And, because no sane men would attempt to do this alone, this week Trev & Joe are joined by a special guest, Kyle Byrd, of If It Bleeds, We Can Kill It and Kaiju Transmissions. Together, the three brave souls provide a running audio commentary for Gavin Hood's 2009 film X-MEN ORIGINS: WOLVERINE, the very first X-Men spin-off film. Terrible CGI, gorgeous flowing hair, and in-name-only characters...all of this and more is discussed, as the guys try to make sense of this, the only X-Men film even the series producers now want you to forget. As usual with our commentary episodes, watching along with us is NOT required...though how else are you going to see those incredible claws? • 40 - Days of Future Podcast: De-Evolution

    27/06/2016 Duración: 01h14min

What happens when two hosts of an X-Men podcast get to the day of recording and realize they never planned anything to talk about? You get this, our most off-topic episode ever! Listen as the guys discuss Joe's recent Emmy wins, ruminate on two weeks worth of terrible news, potentially offend and lose some listeners with their amateur thoughts on the gun control debate, try to figure out Brexit (which at least has an "X" in it), ponder potentially famous listeners, and look for the perfect potato chip. But don't fret, the guys do eventually remember this is an X-Men show, as they also revisit the animated series X-MEN: EVOLUTION, checking in on the early episodes for the first time in years, and are both surprised by their reaction to it. Once often lambasted as little more than SAVED BY THE BELL: THE X-MEN YEARS, the show takes on a different context in a current era long devoid of any X-cartoons whatsoever. So what do Trev and Joe think of this "hip" re-imagining of the X-Men now? Listen on and find out. Co

  • 39 - Worst X-Men Podcast Ever

    13/06/2016 Duración: 01h33min

This week, Trev & Joe have each chosen an X-universe mini-series they want to highlight for discussion . First up, Joe takes a look at the underappreciated X-FACTOR Vol. 2 (2002), from writer Jeff Jensen & artist Arthur Ranson, a terrific look at the uneasy relationship between the human and mutant populations of the Marvel universe. Then, Trev shares his love for X-MEN: WORST X-MAN EVER (2016), from writer Max Bemis & artist Michael Walsh, a playful look at the X-universe which asks what it might be like to be a part of the X-Men's world when you have the worst possible mutant power one can think of. Plus, the guys discuss the potential fallout of X-MEN: APOCALYPSE's box-office performance, and share their thoughts on the film's recent billboard controversy. Perhaps most importantly, they also answer a very X-Men relevant, listener-submitted question regarding the general reaction to Trevor Noah's DAILY SHOW tenure so far. All this, and more. • 38 - Post-Apocalyptic Prediction Party

    06/06/2016 Duración: 59min

We're back a week early, for the third part of what we are now considering our "APOCALYPSE Trilogy!" This time, Trev & Joe discuss what comes next for the cinematic X-MEN franchise in the wake of X-MEN: APOCALYPSE. Where do they think the series goes from here? What do they want to see, from both the next X-MEN movie itself, and spin-offs like NEW MUTANTS, WOLVERINE 3, GAMBIT, and the next DEADPOOL film? What story-lines are they hoping to see brought to life? And should the future of the franchise remain in the hands of Bryan Singer?
