Sinopsis
RadioZoom is one of the earliest podcasts to come out of the initial wave of excitement about the new medium in 2004. What started out as an experiment, a nerdy implementation of recently discovered coding skills, and in a era post-college radio days, RadioZoom became an adventure in social networking among fellow podcasters and people who actually listened to what I was publishing to the world. Stories, soundseeing, and music. Podcasting for the hell of it.

RZ#51 – Car Ride and Rebecca’s First Time on the Podcast
12/12/2005RadioZoomRZ#51 – Car Ride and Rebecca’s First Time on the Podcast[Show Notes Link] Direct download link This episode is an experiment and adventure all rolled into one. While on the way to Port Moody this afternoon, I started recording on the minidisc. It’s the first time Rebecca has ever been apart of the podcast, the first time I’ve used this equipment to do anything mobile, and a lot of us just giggling and having a good time on our way to pick up her mom. Rebecca is always telling me little facts about Vancouver, so my hope is to do more of these types of things in the future as we venture around the lower mainland. Also, this is encoded with slightly better quality since it is not very long. Being that this is something new that I’m trying, I’m dying for feedback. As you might be able to tell, sometimes we just get carried away. Please send an email or audio comment to radiozoom [at] gmail [dot] com. Also, send your mp3’s of music you’d like to see played on my podcast to the same address. 12:16

10/12/2005RadioZoomRZ#50 – Programming Announcement; Vancouver Coffee Culture; Not Listed in iTunes[Show Notes Link] Direct download link Welcome to episode #50, eh? Today’s release marks an important announcement regarding the future of this podcast and music. As much as I love the coffee, I couldn’t help but make some observations about the coffee culture around Vancouver. I swear that none of the coffee chains and or establishments mentioned had any stake in this episode. Also, some audio feedback and email from listeners. And Apple responds regarding my lack of being listed in their iTunes Podcast Directory. People, places, and links: – Vancouver 2010 – Blenz – Starbucks – Seattle’s Best Coffee – Tim Horton’s – Canucks Outsider – Dave Olsen – Podsafe Music Network Today’s music selections as played with permission: – Lejeune – moon-shy city – The Life and Times – high scores – Aeroplane Pageant – kind as killers – Pernice Brothers – snow Please send an email or audio comment to radiozoom [at] gmail [dot] com

RZ#48 – Dad Update; Other Podcasts; Future Plans
02/12/2005RadioZoomRZ#48 – Dad Update; Other Podcasts; Future Plans[Show Notes Link] Direct download link It’s the CouchCast! However, I think the audio on this sucks, but that’s what I get for trying something new. My setup is still handicapped by the fact that I don’t work at a radio station anymore with access to all sorts of great toys to do recording with. I hope you can handle it. Cheers and jeers are appreciated. Also in today’s episode, I give you a small update on how my dad is doing with his surgery, some listener feedback, some plugs for other podcasts, and a little more insight as to what I’m trying to do here. Plugs and name drops: – Island Podcasting – Evil Genius Chronicles – Podsafe Music Network Music Selections: – Mates of State – goods – The Appleseed Cast – innocent vigilant ordinary – Gidgets Ga Ga – lullaby – Soft – you make me wanna die Please send an email or audio comment to radiozoom [at] gmail [dot] com. RZ#47 – Adventures in Video; My Dad’s Surgery; Working in Canada
30/11/2005RadioZoomRZ#47 – Adventures in Video; My Dad’s Surgery; Working in Canada[Show Notes Link] Direct download link There are a few bullet points that I make it a point to go over today. First off, a little bit about my video podcasting endeavor and what it is that I’m trying to do with it; “you don’t know until you try.” Second, just a little bit of personal info as my father goes into surgery for a tumor on one of his kidneys. Please keep him in your thoughts. That leads into the third part of today’s episode of a new and ongoing segment for the future, Working in Canada. Why can’t I get listed in the iTunes Podcast Directory? Can I get some help here? My feed has already been submitted, and yet I see nothing. Today’s music selections as played by permission: – Cedars – fleets – Lou Barlow – the ballad of daykitty – Grigor Iliev – winter story – Dick Prall – great admirer Please send an email or audio comment to radiozoom [at] gmail [dot] com. RZ#46 – Vancouver Thoughts; First Canucks Game at GM Place; Weekend in Victoria
23/11/2005RadioZoomRZ#46 – Vancouver Thoughts; First Canucks Game at GM Place; Weekend in Victoria[Show Notes Link] Direct download link This episode is mostly about tales from Vancouver. I share my experience at my first Canucks game last night at GM Place. It’s hard not to talk quite a bit of hockey today. Also, Rebecca and I made our way over to Vancouver Island to spend the weekend in Victoria this past weekend, so I take some time to share some of those experiences. There was so much to talk about and I know I forgot about half of what I wanted to share. With hope, I can share more in the future as I think of it. I think I yack a lot on this one, hence the length of today’s episode. Thank you to each band listed below for granting me permission to play their music for you! Please visit their sites to learn more and purchase their music. – Soft – higher – Nada Surf – fruit fly – The Story Of – way too loud – Harvey Danger – cream and bastards rise Please send an email or audio comment to radiozoom [at] gma

RZ#44 – 11.15.2005
15/11/2005RadioZoomRZ#44 – 11.15.2005[Show Notes Link] Direct download link Today’s episode features a couple of plugs for other, Vancouver podcasts. I invite you to check out Dave Olsen’s Canucks Outsider podcast, especially if you are a Canucks hockey fan. Then a plug for the alt.cast, as Chris played a song from the Podsafe Music Network that I could just not resist. I also take a look at the Sony BMG issue regarding their DRM root kit debacle. Here are the links that I mentioned: – ZDNet UK: “Sony offers to replace rootkit CDs” – Times Online (UK): “Sony drops anti-piracy tool that lets in hackers” – idiotabroad.com: “CD’s affected by the Sony-BMG spyware” I also take a moment to do an update of how things have changed now that I live in Vancouver. I hope to make this an ongoing segment that I revisit from time to time. This isn’t just a whole new city for me, but it’s also a whole new country. The music: – The Appleseed Cast – hello dearest love – Tapes N’ Tapes – insistor – Cagey House – 1000+ – 46bliss

RZ#43 – 11.10.2005
10/11/2005RadioZoomRZ#43 – 11.10.2005[Show Notes Link] Direct download link This is a jam, packed episode of the RadioZoom Podcast with music all found on the PodSafe Music Network. I took a dive into the directory and plucked out tracks by artists that I thought were pretty good to my liking. I tend to get picky about the stuff I listen to without being overly judgemental about techiniques and what not. I just have to like it. Plain and simple. Not too much of me talking about anything except the artists that I’m playing for you. And if you like any of them, check out their websites for lots more info. – Ester Drang – come back alive – Darcy Fray – murder in bombay – Delphinium Blue – boy seventeen – Paula Toledo – break it down – Anji Bee – love me leave me – Fresh Sunday – not a ghost Please send an email or audio comment to radiozoom [at] gmail [dot] com. RZ#38 – 09.22.2005
23/09/2005RadioZoomRZ#38 – 09.22.2005[Show Notes Link] Direct download link Things are changing… I think that I’ll let this episode speak for itself, but I will have to call this an end to the label of an “Iowan podcast”. A very personal episode explaining a shift in my life and the future that is to come. All the music in this episode is that of artists that called Iowa home at one time or another. The podcast shouldn’t end. However, it will change because there’s really no way to prevent that. – Speed of Sauce – your voice – Dick Prall – barely moving – Burn Disco Burn – problems replacing problems – Alto Heceta – when autumn leaves Please send an email or audio comment to radiozoom [at] gmail [dot] com. This episode is mainly a radio engineering 101 concerning the Amber Alert system for the state of Iowa as well as it’s relivence to other systems through out the United States.
