In this message, Pastor Pete explores the theme of loss. Without God, mankind is lost. But the Bible shows a God who goes to incredible lengths to rescue us. And part of our mission on earth is also to see the lost won – followers of Jesus helping others find and follow Jesus.

God chose a people, Israel, to carry His purposes for the nations yet with the coming of Jesus the Church was born. In this message Pastor Pete unpacks the significance of Israel in history and today.

Destiny Edinburgh is 20 years old. In this message, Pastor Pete shares how the vision with which the church was started has not changed. Our vision is still to be "a relevant and significant church that sees the lost won and the won winning throughout Edinburgh, the Lothians and beyond".

Today’s talk is about the power of the spoken word. What we say and declare has spiritual, emotional and physical implications. In his message, Pastor Pete invites us to change the way we speak and learn to actively make declarations about God and declarations over our own lives, letting our words line up with His Word, and thus, allowing God’s power to direct the course of our lives.

Today’s message comes from a special guest speaker, Ivan Squilino, from Destiny Church, Glasgow. Ivan shares his own testimony of God’s call upon his life, taking him from being a hairdresser to being His vessel, as an evangelist and as a healer. Ivan can also testify to seeing God’s powerful hands at work in his pioneering work among the orphans of India. But Ivan’s core message is that God can use any of us, if we too are willing to live a surrendered life.

In this message, Pastor Pete unpacks the different stages of church history, starting at Pentecost when the Holy Spirit fell on the believers, followed by the church’s phenomenal growth despite waves of persecution under Roman rule. He then traces the decline of the church after the conversion of Emperor Constantine; a decline which coincided with the rise of Islam, the Crusades and the Inquisition. The ‘dark ages’, however, gave way, from the fourteenth century onwards, to several movements that saw God’s hand clearly at work in restoring His church, when He raised up mighty men (John Wycliffe, Martin Luther, NIkolaus Zinzendorf, Charles Spurgeon, Smith Wiggleworth to name but a few) who fearlessly proclaimed the authority of the Bible, the power of the Gospel, the importance of mission works and of spiritual gifts … Knowing the history of the church however, is not simply about acquiring facts, but understanding that all of us, followers of Christ, have a part to play in the building of His church.

We all long for change in our lives, we form new habits and try new year’s resolutions but they rarely stick. In this message we see how our lives are transformed through aligning our thoughts and mind-sets with God’s word.

Pastor Pete unpacks Psalm 25 for us - from the challenges faced by King David to learning how to trust God and hear His voice. There is a need for all of us to not just hear, but also pay attention to how we listen to His voice, so that we can truly perceive and grasp what He is saying to us.

From Genesis to Revelation the bible has one central figure, Jesus Christ, and we’ve been given a mission to share the message about Jesus. In this message Pastor Pete discusses God’s big plan to reach the world. There is no plan B.

This message is about learning to be still before God and waiting on Him rather than reacting and jumping in to resolve whatever challenges we may be facing. We can be silent before God because we know we can trust Him and because of His covenant love for us.
