When you wander through life’s hardships or experience difficulties, God reminds you that he will never leave you and that you have a family of other believers that have experienced the same trials. At social gatherings or business meetings, sometimes you are required to wear a name tag. One of the purposes of that tag is to let others know who you are and what you’re about. Christian’s wear a “name tag” that doesn’t reflect them, but Jesus. What happens when people realize you bear the name of Jesus and they ridicule or dismiss you? How should Christ-followers think about this kind of push back and how can we respond in truth and love? Psalm 146 1 Peter 4:12-19 Matthew 16:21-28

Most of the time, following Jesus and doing good are met with smiles and graciousness. Sometimes, we encounter push back when our “doing good” goes against a norm of society. We can be shunned or threatened when we stand with God about what is wrong. How can we be respectful and keep a clean conscience? Follow Jesus’ example! Psalm 110 1 Peter 3:13-22 Matthew 10:26-31

One of the hallmarks of being a Christian is that we live in the freedom of God's grace in Jesus. But what does that really mean? Can we as Christians do whatever we want because we live under his forgiveness? What is the responsible way to live as free people. Today, we learn the important truth that freedom comes at a cost. As Dad's, our image introduces our kids to God's image. Yikes! That seems like a huge burden. The key is to focus first on your walk with Jesus and allow his Spirit to guide you as you guide your family. Could it really be that simple? Yes, they’ll know we are Christians by our…Yard Signs? Protests? Arguments on facebook? Judgmentalism? Buildings? Or is it Love? Our ability to love- to show patience, kindness, forgiveness, to both those who are like and unlike us, those who we agree and disagree with, is the single greatest witness we have to those who are not yet Christians. It is also a powerful reflection of the one who was hated, insulted, crucified, and loved us all the way to hell and back. Jeremiah 31:31-34 1 John 3:11-18 John 13:34-35

The marks of success in the Christian life are often quite different from what we traditionally consider “successful”. By emphasizing “being with God” over “doing for God”, we begin to nurture our relationship with Him, and increasingly live lives that are notable not so much for the accumulation of power, success, and achievement, as much as for the increase of love, joy, and peace. Isn’t it restrictive and oppressive to let someone else decide how we live? Not if that person’s greatest desire is for us to thrive and live with greater peace and joy, and fewer regrets. When we allow Jesus to have authority over us, we begin to live in the way we were originally created to. Micah 6:1-8 2 John 4-9 John 8:31-32

The Kingdom of God is marked by a reversal of values. Instead of living for our own sake, our own good, our own desires, we transfer our allegiance to Christ, living under his authority, for his sake, for the good and flourishing of others. Isaiah 55:1-6 2 Timothy 2:8-13, Mark 8:34-38,

In many ways, moms hold families together. They seem to always be there lending a hand, providing support, and calling us back when we tend to stray. You could say, they are our "rock." This mothers day, we celebrate their place in our lives and the Rock on which they rely -- Jesus. Ps. 18: 1-2, 46-50 Rom. 15:5-13 Matthew 11:25-30

Most churches and ministries determine their success by the wrong measures. Budgets, worship attendance, and programs seem to be the metric. A church seeking a Kingdom Culture is aware of those measures, but their key marker of success has to do with the amount of people the ministry has discipled and how many people have moved toward "Christ-likeness." Its also personal. How have you taken a step forward in your walk with Jesus and how many people have you poured into this month? Psalm 100 Acts 1:1-8 John 4:43-54

Membership, dues, expectations of the organization and the members. Those are marks of a country club. Unfortuately, many churches have drifted into looking more like a country club and not a movement of God. How can you be on the forefront of changing that mentality? What is God calling you to do? Did you know that the concept of a volunteer is a foreign concept in the Biblically, Kingdom-Culture Oriented church? Jesus' teaching and the dominant New Testament teaching is the concept of a "servant". Do you know how to live a servants life? Do you want to? As Jesus said, "It is better to serve than to be served."

Ask most people in America what the church is and they will say it is a place. Is it though? How would Jesus define the church and how did we drift so far from his original idea? Isaiah 60:1-3 Ephesians 5:15-20 John 20:19-29

He is Risen! In the resurrection of Jesus, there is the hope and promise of a new beginning. That new beginning is the gift of eternal life that we experience both in heaven and earth. Today we celebrate what God has done through our Risen Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ and receive the invitation to begin again. Psalm 16 2 Corinthians 5:11-17 Mark 16:1–8

There can be no learning without novelty. There can be no novelty without risk. We cannot grow unless there has been a challenge to what is familiar and comfortable. The Spirit leads us into an adventure. The Spirit leads us into a dangerous world. To ask for the Spirit is to ask for risk. Joshua 1:1-9 Romans 12:4-8 Mark 8:34-38

A wise man once said that just as the three laws of real estate are “location, location, location,” the three laws of relationship are “observation, observation, observation.” People who give life to us are people who notice us. They know what we love and fear. When we work to truly notice someone else, love for them grows. In Christ, God noticed us and rescued us, all from his heart of love.

Their thoughts incline them toward confidence, love, and joy. Trying to change your emotions by willpower without allowing the stream of your thoughts to be changed by the flow of the Spirit is like fumigating the house of the skunk smell while the skunks continue to live in your crawl space. Your flourishing is never just about you. It is a “so that” kind of condition. God designed you to flourish “so that” you could be part of his redemptive project in ways that you otherwise could not. He wants you to flourish “so that” people can be encouraged, gardens can be planted, music can be written, sick people can be helped, or companies can thrive in ways they otherwise would not. When you fail to become the person God designed, all the rest of us miss out on the gift you were made to give."Psalm 92:8-152 Cor. 5:11-17Matt. 11:25-30"

When you find out that what you thought you saw wasn't reality, you feel like you're "seeing things." Today we find out that when Jesus sees things, not only are they real, but they can change the hearts of even the hardest of people. "Ps. 139:1-101 Cor. 6:12-20John 1:43-51"
