Sega Mixer Drive... With Rexy

29 years to the date, the original Sonic the Hedgehog was released on the Mega Drive. And just like prior years, the show ended up full of fan arrangements for the blue blur, with various games getting covered with differing ideas. Gotta listen fast!

The only regular show in June was off the heels of a major announcement for the station – Opposite Week, where Rexy would host someone else’s show and another person would host her own. Expect equal measures of great music and greater station throwbacks!

As Summer beckons, so would the annual aquatic special that is Fish Friday! (Yes, it’s still on a Sunday – just deal with it.) Splash down to some VGM arrangements of water levels, beach areas and the occasional game that’s entirely underwater!

Grab your swords and shields, because May’s Mystery Mix is all about Sega RPGs! Tactical, turn-based, action-based, simulations… whatever exploration and combat systems suit you, you’re guaranteed an adventure through this set!

Rather than going “deep” this week, the regular show setlist aimed at the stars thanks to the amount of listener requests. With the Discord server also being on a spaceship kick, it made sense to wonder how to attract listeners from another planet!

This regular show went “deep in the mix” with changes to the School of Sega segment, guitars across the Remix Highlights and a familiar Dreamcast game in the Source Roulette… as well as a mysterious recording from a former voice actor? Huh?

25 years ago, the Sega Saturn got a rough release in the United States – but it still left a gaming legacy behind. Regular blocks (other than the Remix Highlights) got thrown out of the window, in favor of coverage from 20 different games on the system!

This regular show has a versatile setlist – whether listening casually, multitasking, or even playing Streets of Rage 4, which dropped earlier that week. In fact, the mood was so fitting the Community Spotlight even featured a team member on SoR Remake!

Everyone remembered a time when Sega ruled the console market, and that’s the era of choice for April’s Mystery Mix – the 1990s! It’s all about the fourth, fifth and sixth console generations with this selection of “totally radical” tunage!

No-one had to wait 26 years for another regular show - they're all around the corner and with plenty of fun selections. But the listeners had to endure just that for Streets of Rage 4 - adding a second reason to add some critical Sunday hype!

It's Easter Sunday, and it's also Sonic Free Week! For this episode, the blue blur took a backseat and allowed for other Sega franchises to get some representation - sweet-sounding tunes, whether you like chocolate or not!

This week’s regular show had a comfortable selection of tunes – including the first accordion-solo Remix Highlight (!) – and a slightly less comfortable discussion relating to socks. Always enjoy each show in the coziest clothing you own!

This show has had too many electric guitars and polysynths as of late, and so March’s Mystery Mix went in an unplugged direction. Nothing emphasizes a laid-back Sunday more than VGM arrangements with more natural musical instruments, right?

Rexy enjoys airing a lot of varied content in these regular shows. But even in the #10YearsLive aftermath, she acknowledged that there's some music genre territory that barely - or never - gets fully explored. Could arrangers attempt any of these ideas?

It’s the 10th anniversary of RadioSEGA LiVE! As part of the #10YearsLiVE event, this entire setlist – with the exception of the Remix Highlights - consisted of a bunch of memory-inducing tracks, mostly picked by the listeners. Here’s to 10 more years!

By some coincidence, this week's regular show was also hosted on International Women's Day! While not the entire setlist could comprise of female artists, there was love and respect in equal measure for Sega's ladies and this week's music selection.

After four weeks, the show finally had its first regular show of the season – or as regular as it could be, due to the threat of a Chinese viral strain. But new music is our own new entertainment, and the chat had been eager to mention their own!

The first mystery mix of the season had a focus on vocal tracks. All selections in the playlist had the human voice being used to great effect in leading them forward. Be prepared with a hairbrush and a bathroom - you may want to sing along!

The second half of the winter break catchup continued to deliver new material from late January and early February. With one such artist having done professional animé dub work, pipe dreams were alight for past Sega games getting adapted for TV!

SEGA Mixer Drive has returned for an eighth season, and like last year, the premiere has some fresh new cuts that defined the month of January. Of course, host and listeners alike had plenty of winter break tales to tell as well.
