The NBA has been instrumental in growing the game of basketball, both globally and, more specifically, for women’s professional sports. Silver has been a longtime executive of the NBA and was integral in the formation of the WNBA in 1996. Engelbert was named the first commissioner of the WNBA in 2019 and has overseen the growth of the league since. The NCAA continues the celebration of the 50th anniversary of Title IX with a new nine-part College Sports Conversations series hosted by Bonnie Bernstein, one of the most accomplished female sports journalists in history.
