After coming off its first loss of the season, Wake Forest welcomed in traditional ACC power Florida State to Winston-Salem on October 19th 2019. Sam Hartman earned his first start of the season under center, passing for 308 yards, but it was a slow start for the Demon Deacon offense as Wake led 6-0 after one quarter but trailed 14-12 at the half.After a scoreless third quarter by both teams, Wake Forest found itself trailing 20-19 with just under 5 minutes to play as sophomore Nick Sciba drilled his fifth field goal of the day, tying a school single-game record, with 4:18 remaining.
