Overview - What Good Thing Shall I Do That I May Have Eternal Life? Matthew 19:16-22. In our message this week we study the question given to Jesus by a rich young ruler “What Good Thing Shall I Do That I May Have Eternal Life”. Jesus answers him with a couple of different answers, and those answers seem to contradict one another. But do they really? The young rich ruler is not satisfied with either, and walks away sorrowful. But why? In our world today, a large majority of people believe, and the majority of the religions teach, that good works, or doing good things get people to Heaven.
