Sinopsis
John 4:43-54 In this Bible study, of John 4:43 - 4:54, we saw how the Galileans seemed to welcome Jesus with great excitement, but only wanted him for what he could do for them and did not honour him, treasure him, or believe in him as Messiah. This contrasts with the faith of the Samaritans who took him at his Word. This passage shows how familiarity can cause us to be far from Jesus, even as it makes us feel like we are close to him. This is especially a warning for those among us who have been Christians for some time. The Galileans had been around Jesus much more than the Samaritans and they took him for granted. But this isn't inevitable. We saw how there was another Galilean who treasured Jesus and was close to Jesus even though he was the most familiar with him. This is John the one recording this true story. We ended by looking at John's words in Revelation about his yearning for Jesus to return and concluded by praying for God to awaken a yearning for him.
