Catholic leaders have been grappling with the issue for months, especially because Biden persists in calling himself a devout Catholic while aggressively advocating for the killing of unborn babies in abortions. The U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB) has repeatedly declared that the right to life is paramount, that abortion poses a monumental threat to humankind, and that eliminating it is their “preeminent priority” among human-rights issues. At their meeting this week U.S. bishops determine not to vote on a document from their Committee on Doctrine “with the aim of clarifying the church’s stance” on pro-abortion politicians and Communion.
