In this week's episode of MasterMind Podcast, Malia and Chris are joined by Sol, the book lover behind The Sol Reader blog and Bookstagram. The three sit down to review "Between the World and Me" by Ta-Nehisi Coates. The trio start the conversation off by first discussing what it means to live the "American Dream." This topic stemmed from Coates saying in the book that, "The “American Dream” is built off the backs of African people.  It has been sustained by oppression and also enslavement." Sol shares what word she feels best defines the meaning of having ownership over one’s body. The three end the episode by breaking down another one of Coates' quotes in the book: “Struggling to understand oneself in the larger context of race is more valuable than living in ignorance.” Take-away questions from reading: 1.
