Every book of the Bible has a different purpose. Genesis is a book of beginnings introducing dozens of doctrines, ethical issues exemplifying God’s will. Leviticus defines holiness. Proverbs is the "quick notes" to teaching and learning the Law of God. Matthew emphasizes Christ as King, Mark introduces Christ as Servant, Luke develops Christ as a man, and John develops Christ as God. Romans is heavily doctrinal. The Book of Revelation shows us the journey of the church through the ages since the time of Christ. Likewise, the Book of Psalms, a surprisingly underrated book among people in the pews, teaches us how to pray; what God honors and responds to in our prayer life.
