The purity and preservation of the faith once for all delivered to the saints is of immense importance. Many well-meaning people, in their desire to defend the faith, often end up creating unnecessary division over non-essential matters. In terms of the essential tenets of the Christian faith (the Trinity, the deity of Christ, the personhood of the Holy Spirit, the inspiration and authority of Holy Scripture, etc) we must stand with bold conviction. Yet, in non-essential matters (mode of baptism, some matters of eschatology, Bible translation, worship style, etc) we must be charitable in our interactions with other followers of Christ.
