Can a Civil Magistrate sin? Saul did. His foolish decree ended up causing his people to sin and his son Jonathan to be condemned to death. As a result of Saul’s actions God turned a deaf ear to his prayer. The people had to make a choice, step back and let Jonathan die (escapism) or rise up on behalf of Jonathan (faithful intervention).
