If you believe people are good on their own, then Jesus becomes unnecessary. Now, people may do good things, but that doesn’t make them good. No one is good except God. But the good news is that when you turn to him and believe in Jesus for your salvation, all sin is forgiven and its penalty completely removed; you are declared fully righteous, holy and good. Your nature has been changed from sinner to saint by the precious blood of Jesus and His work because you would not be qualified for heaven any other way.
