Her mother was diagnosed 10 years ago with what is now called Posterior Cortical Atrophy (PCA), also known as Benson's syndrome. It is a form of dementia which refers to gradual and progressive degeneration of the outer layer of the brain (the cortex) in the part located in the back of the head (posterior). She highlighted a moment where she and her mother had a talk about her 8-year-old son. It took her by surprise for her mother voiced out her pain about how her son was becoming distant to her.
