Luke 22:47-65.  Tony van Drimmelen.  Under the cover of darkness we see the darkness of men’s hearts reign (v.53).  Jesus is betrayed by a Judas, rejected by Peter, and the soldiers mock Him.  From the perspective of the perpetrators the darkness has blinded them to the One who is the only source of true light!  Without “the Light” of the gospel we would be left in our darkness too.  We would never see that Jesus consumed all our darkness when He died on the cross.  We have the legacy of Judas who succumbed to his darkness with terrible results and we have Peter who repented, wept bitterly and found grace.
