The winners for the Nobel Prize in medicine are two scientists who have pioneered immunotherapy for cancer. Their names are James Allison and Tasuku Honjo. They separately discovered proteins that act as a brake on the immune system. They later found that releasing these brakes would allow the immune system to attack cancer cells. Drugs called checkpoint inhibi
