Sinopsis

Dr. Christen Skaer of the Skaer Veterinary Clinic in Wichita, joins us in studio this weekend to talk about one of her favorite non-profits, the Sedgwick County Animal Response Team (SCART) and how that organization, upon invitation, handled animal rescue and placement of lost animals after the Moore, OK tornado. And, since August is right on our heels and our high school athletes will be beginning two-a-day work outs in triple digit weather, we’ll hear from Dr. Cameron Maynard in Jenks, OK, who gives coaches and parents some advice on the all-important “ need for hydration.”  Heat stroke can be a major concern, so Dr. Maynard gives us a list of what symptoms to look for before our young athletes get into serious trouble, and he gives a nod to pure, cold coconut water and a way to replenish those electrolytes.
