The story of the flood may conjure up cartoon images of an “ark” with animals peeking out the top. And of course in that mental image there is a gentle rainbow splashed across the baby blue sky. But this story is not just a children’s story. It is a unrestrained depiction of who God is and our relationship to Him. The most vivid part about the story is God’s symbol that still appears today. The rainbow is not just God’s artistry displayed to make the sky look a little prettier. It is a powerful message from God, that if we understand its meaning, can still impact us to the core of our being.
