According to his coworkers in the Miami-Dade police department, David Middleton was a nice guy who took pride in his job. However, he used the power of the badge to fulfill his sexual desires. In 1990, he pulled up to a 16 year old girl on the street, giving her the false excuse that she was out past curfew. He then handcuffed her and told her he was taking her to a juvenile institution.
