Judges Chapter 13 begins with Samson's miraculous birth. The angel of the Lord's visit symbolically foreshadows Jesus's death, resurrection, and ascension as our one Mediator. We need a Substitute because God is holy and a consuming fire whom nobody can see and live; we cannot approach Him in our sins. We would be obliterated by our guilt. God would have to kill us because of our sins, but instead, God ACCEPTED the sacrifice of Jesus in our place so that we would not have to endure His justice.
