During the second week of Advent we remember how the prophets received words from God and told them to the people. Isaiah 40 teaches that God longs to comfort his people. Just like licking the spoon when baking cookies, Isaiah gives us a taste of comfort now, but when we celebrate Jesus coming at Christmas, we receive the more complete comfort Isaiah is talking about. Christmas is like the oven bell ringing, telling you the cookies are done and it's time to feast!
