    Overview: This talk on deep vein thrombosis (DVT) will review common clinical presentations, diagnostic workup, indications for imaging, and therapeutic options. The consequences of DVT, such as pulmonary embolism and stroke (in patients with patent foramen ovale), can be dire, and the faculty will provide strategies to reduce morbidity and mortality. You will dive into a detailed lesson on the medical therapy for DVT, which includes anticoagulation strategies using warfarin or the novel factor Xa inhibitors. After this session, you will know when to refer for more advanced invasive therapies and have insight into management of special populations.
