Molly Butterworth started her museum career and began nurturing her love of vehicles in her home state of Ohio. She earned her bachelor's degree in history and English and her master's in Public History. She was hired at the Museum of Transportation in St. Louis and became director there. She is now an historic building preservationist in St. Louis and in the copy editing phase of her first book that covers the city's rich automotive history. She also recent wrecked Rolf, her beloved BMW motorcycle.

Hi, this is Eric: I was soooooo sick of the sound of the Fourth of July after hour number six last night, I decided to put on headphones and see if, in one hour, I could produce a podcast with my (unscripted) narration, two or more other sound tracks, and some audio I got off the internet. Even though the message is really important, this was just as much learning how to use the equipment. I chose Ike's January 17, 1961 (you can tell I'm winging it because I got the year wrong in the audio) farewell address to the nation as POTUS. Hi, this is Eric... This one was special for me for a few reasons. LeMay Inc. (which included Pierce County Refuse) was a family-run business most of Ric Thompson's 41 years there. And then it was sold to Waste Connections, a much huger garbage company from Wall Street. For more than four decades, Ric went through all of the changes in the politics, equipment, recycling demands, etc. He is of a generation that kind of has seen it all in how your waste gets engineered. He was a pioneer.

Eric's cousin Pamela Shandrow talks about her two stints touring North America with a couple of the biggest box-office successes in the history of musical theater. This was mostly seeing what Eric could do without an actual microphone; just the hand-held recorder and no headphones (totally naked of anything other than the recorder, and how well Garageband works for editing at this point). Meh.  But not horrible. Mike was tremendous. Just stellar. The editing on Garageband to make all of the pieces work together...it needs a better piece of software. Its just frustrating getting levels synced.  So enjoy this as bonus track in the learning process...

Bob MacMahon, or as he's called around Marymount, "Battery Bob," touches on his early life, how he first met Harold LeMay, and other things he's experienced in a long and varied life around cars. The music comes from Marymount volunteer Jack Mueller from a 1968 album for car dealers titled, "In My Merry Oldsmobile." Basically, a maestro named Glenn Osser took the original 1908 music and led different bands to play it in 30 different styles. It's pretty cool. www.lemaymarymount.org    

Currently an editor at the San Francisco Chronicle, Pete Wevurski talks with Eric about his storied history with newspapers, journalism and sports; he also offers some great thoughts on the value of journalism and the future of newspapers. This is a long one, clocking in at 90 minutes (you're lucky...it could have been four hours).

Eric's mom, Sharon LeMay, talk about what happened when her cousin, a recluse, died in Minnesota and she was one of the heirs. But there's a lot more to the story, as she tell Eric and Pilar.

Eric has "known of" Rachel Kerr since Shining Mountain Elementary School where she was a year younger -- right through junior high and high school. But, as a Seahawks fan and season ticket holder, he kept paying attention to her career and life because she was a SeaGal (or Seahawks cheerleader) most of the 1990s. She is passionate, smart and really great at articulating her thoughts and beliefs (as opposed to Eric who has several stumbles in this 80 minutes.) Annalaan and Lane sit down with Pilar and Eric to talk about the second half of their journey from Seaport, New Jersey to Seaport, Oregon. Heads up: This was Eric's first time with four hot mics all plugged in at once creating four separate tracks, so some of the sound levels are a little funky because we were all sitting so close together. (This is still a production learning process.)

Eric's daughter, Annalaan, and her boyfriend, Lane, are traveling about 2800 miles from West Long Branch, NJ to Spanaway, WA. It's their first big cross-country road trip. They've made it to Fargo. Here are their impressions so far when they talk to Eric and Pilar.

Due to something that came up, Eric's scheduled guest this week had to bail at the last minute (That's what he gets when he waits until Sunday for a show released on Sundays.). But this is the story of getting lost in the woods near Mr. Rainier (The Mountain). Its about 30 minutes...and we'll be back to our regularly interview format next week.
