  • Trek TV Episode 196 - Star Trek: The Next Generation S05E01 - "Redemption: Part 2"

    13/07/2021 Duración: 01h52min

#196 In this episode of Trek TV we discuss Star Trek: The Next Generation S05E01 - "Redemption: Part 2". Hosted by Tracy and Vaughn. Guest starring Derek & Jared. Watch out, because Season 5 is coming in hot with Redemption Part 2: Redempt Harder! Well, except that Worf pretty much had his redemption rather anti-climatically redeemed in part 1... but that hasn't stopped them from packing this episode chock-full of action, intrigue, civil wars, exciting new revelations in the life of inescapable misery that was Tasha Yar's, Worf's ever-growing disenchantment with the reality of Klingon society, boob windows, and much more! Probably too much, honestly, and yet also not enough (Worf, arguably; boob windows, definitely)? So of course, we have no choice but to step up with an episode equally overstuffed with discussions of android microaggressions, chainsaw fights, misleadingly-shaped dog treats, interminable impressions of "Batman" singing "Dayman" for no reason possibly fathomable in any rational universe, a

  • Trek TV Episode 195 - Star Trek: The Next Generation S04E26 - "Redemption: Part 1"

    02/07/2021 Duración: 56min

#195 In this episode of Trek TV we discuss Star Trek: The Next Generation S04E26 - "Redemption: Part 1". Hosted by Tracy and Vaughn. Guest starring Derek, Dustin, & Jared. It's the season finale, and Worf FINALLY gets to start poking a hole through the grand lies of the Klingon High Council, thus beginning his titular redemption-ing! But first, a few more eye-popping surprises may be brought to light... Now, here on Trek TV, we normally like to give our listeners a revealing glimpse into what they can expect from a new episode, but in this case, keeping y'all too abreast might prove a bit of a handful. While we hold the larger revelations close to our chests, we think of our listeners as our bosom buddies, so here's a little peek at just some of the juicy titbits you're about to ogle with your earholes: thoughtful ruminations on the logistics of craft services! Load-bearing rope deployment! Really weird-looking boots, and even weirder-looking pants! And many even bigger 'uns we can barely keep fully conta

  • Trek TV Episode 194 - Star Trek: The Next Generation S04E25 - "In Theory"

    22/06/2021 Duración: 01h16min

#194 In this episode of Trek TV we discuss Star Trek: The Next Generation S04E25 - "In Theory". Hosted by Tracy and Vaughn. Guest starring Derek & Jared. When doing science, it's important to remember that not every theory will stand up to new information. In theory, someone who decides to pursue a romantic relationship with an android would realize he's prooobably gonna be just as much android as they already knew he was BEFORE they decided to pursue said relationship. In theory, the same android who's been in Starfleet for MORE THAN TWO DECADES, and could probably consume the collected works of humanity in like one week off, would not be confused by basic human idioms and figures of speech so much anymore. In theory, a person being embedded partway through the deck of a ship as it briefly phases out and then back into normal space would be a pretty horrific, badass image that could haunt one's memory for decades... well, it's comforting to know that SOME theories do indeed stand up to the test of time.

  • Trek TV Episode 193 - Star Trek: The Next Generation S04E24 - "The Mind's Eye"

    05/06/2021 Duración: 01h03min

#193 In this episode of Trek TV we discuss Star Trek: The Next Generation S04E24 - "The Mind's Eye". Hosted by Tracy and Vaughn. Guest starring Derek & Jared. Well, it was an absolutely fantastic conference, but you sure are glad to be home! It's funny though... thinking back on it, the best part of the whole trip was probably when you were listening to the newest episode of your favorite irreverent Star Trek podcast on the way there! In fact, you were so engrossed in the fascinating insights on the acceptability of empathic contact highs, the consideration of strangely lacking long-term effects of traumatic and invasive extreme mental re-conditioning, and the loveable long-standing abuse of the Irish, that you barely even noticed when that weird van with what appeared to be... Australian license plates that said "NORTH AMERICAN" on them(?) passed at shockingly high speed and then just as quickly slammed on the brakes right in front of you! Thank goodness you were able to stop in time, though those jerks

  • Trek TV Episode 192 - Star Trek: The Next Generation S04E23 - "The Host"

    25/05/2021 Duración: 01h24min

#192 In this episode of Trek TV we discuss Star Trek: The Next Generation S04E23 - "The Host". Hosted by Tracy and Vaughn. Guest starring Maximum Derek & Jared. "The Host" is a 2006 monster film by Bong Joon-ho, while his most recent, Academy Award-winning film is "Parasite". Neither of these actually have anything to do with this TNG episode, "The Host", about a parasite (well, it's a "sybiont" but what advantages it gives to its host are... fuzzy at best) who worms its way into our dear Dr. Crusher's heart (not to mention Riker's gut); however, watching either would arguably be a far superior use of your time than this sloppy, noisy, brother-makeout of an episode. That doesn't mean we can't (though it also doesn't necessarily mean we SHOULD....) "host" our own share of discussions about such topics as the bewildering origins of Trill society, the shockingly limited "ability to love" of super-advanced future humans, and the lickability of people-buckets. And hey, a lot more time in the oven with these sa

  • Trek TV Episode 191 - Star Trek: The Next Generation S04E22 - "Half A Life"

    16/05/2021 Duración: 01h04min

#191 In this episode of Trek TV we discuss Star Trek: The Next Generation S04E22 - "Half A Life". Hosted by Tracy and Vaughn. Guest starring Derek, Dustin, & Jared. Trek TV episode description date: May 15, 2021. Lwaxana Troi is in this one. But wait! Come back! She's actually not just a complete joke for once! Yes, in an absolutely unprecedented (and frankly somewhat inconceivable) turn of events, we have encountered a Lwaxana episode that has both depth AND nuance, as it deals with such heady subjects as the melancholies of growing old, the morality of caring for (or discarding) the aged, and the right/obligation to end one's own life. In response, we talk a lot about bangin', shootin' corpses into the sun, and the stupidest way to end one's own life. So yeah, it's probably best you rise and shine, forget about Timicin, ignore all the surface tension, and try to enjoy another completely non-controversial episode of Trek TV! • Trek TV Episode 190 - Star Trek: The Next Generation S04E21 - "The Drumhead"

    07/05/2021 Duración: 01h17min

#190 In this episode of Trek TV we discuss Star Trek: The Next Generation S04E21 - "The Drumhead". Hosted by Tracy and Vaughn. Guest starring Derek & Jared. In the Starfleet justice system, potential conspiracy investigations are represented by two separate yet definitely unequal groups: the wise, measured, and rational Starfleet captain who waxes eloquently regarding freedom and decency, and the fanatical, paranoid, and downright insane retired Starfleet admiral who completely loses her goddamned mind when the words of her own beloved father reveal her true vindictive hypocrisy. This is Trek TV's podcast about their story.* Also, we somehow have some actual, honest-to-god personal insights about the functioning of a REAL criminal justice system, and we're not even the defendants! This time. Plus all the hot life-threatening confidential data smuggling tips you could ever want or need (we accept no responsibility when you are inevitably caught and sentenced to a slow death) and more, in this week's partic

  • Trek TV Episode 189 - Star Trek: The Next Generation S04E20 - "Qpid"

    24/04/2021 Duración: 01h21min

#189 In this episode of Trek TV we discuss Star Trek: The Next Generation S04E20 - "Qpid". Hosted by Tracy and Vaughn. Guest starring Derek & Jared. Ahhh, Robin Hood. The Duke of Thieves! The Man of Tights! The Jolly Green Outlaw! Yes, the tale of the fellow from Sherwood Forest and his merry gang is obviously a perfect fit for the socialist heroes of the Enterprise, and thanks to a "favour?" or "lesson(?!?)" from our pal Q, this episode has all the legendary Robin Hood elements you love to see: Swordfights! Explosive arm capsules! Breathtakingly wide gulfs in stunt double quality! Female characters having to inexplicably fight a real life-or-death struggle via cartoonish clay pot bashings, despite being the only actors actually trained in swordfighting, because the director must have suffered some kind of undiagnosed stroke while filming! And virtually NO archery, certainly not from "Robin Hood" himself! Also Vash is back and she's continuing to TCB so hard even a nigh-omnipotent godbeing can't help but

  • Trek TV Episode 188 - Star Trek: The Next Generation S04E19 - "The Nth Degree"

    16/04/2021 Duración: 02h07min

#188 In this episode of Trek TV we discuss Star Trek: The Next Generation S04E19 - "The Nth Degree". Hosted by Tracy and Vaughn. Guest starring Derek & Jared. Hey, listeners! Barclay's a computer! And Picard reeaaeally wants him to stop all the downloadin'. Now, we at Trek TV don't know a lot about computers, other than the ones we got in our houses (our moms put some audio software on there and we record podcasts with'em sometimes), so instead we'll have to try and help computer Barclay the only way we do know: by somehow finding a way to make Pep & Ched even more unwholesome, giving poor Geordi the business even worse than UberReg does, and considering whether we've just found the laziest alien "explorers" ever. And even with all that and more nonsense, how about fitting in some of our patented kvetching about the state of popular media to show just how "in touch" and "with it" we are? Yes, we're happy to "give you the stick" as we truly take Star Trek recapping and discussion to "the Nth degree" wi

  • Trek TV Episode 187 - Star Trek: The Next Generation S04E18 - "Identity Crisis"

    08/04/2021 Duración: 48min

#187 In this episode of Trek TV we discuss Star Trek: The Next Generation S04E18 - "Identity Crisis". Hosted by Tracy and Vaughn. Guest starring Derek and Jared. Turns out Geordie was always a creature, who knew? We knew. Listen here now while we fill you in on the finer points. Good news is, it only takes 45 minutes to convey that to someone accurately. Enjoy this shockingly brief episode of Trek TV, but brace yourself lest the overwhelming enthusiasm packed into its short runtime convert you into the horrible veiny beast you were always meant to be. • Trek TV Episode 186 - Star Trek: The Next Generation S04E17 - "Night Terrors"

    31/03/2021 Duración: 01h21min

#186 In this episode of Trek TV we discuss Star Trek: The Next Generation S04E17 - "Night Terrors". Hosted by Tracy and Vaughn. Guest starring Derek & Jared. You're having that dream again. Darkness. Clouds. Crashing thunder. You're being shot in the most unflattering way possible. Your hat is unspeakably gigantic. Truly, a nightmare! Suddenly, a voice from the dark... "Podcast, in your ears. 4 idiots, blathering." Of course! You awaken suddenly, feeling properly refreshed and rested for the first time in days. Rising from your blood-and-grease-soaked mattress, you happily put away your ceremonial knife table; you won't be needing it anymore. The long national nightmare is over, because you have finally found the answer: the newest episode of Trek TV. Sweet dreams, beloved listener. Visit our website for fan art, news and more!

  • Trek TV Episode 185 - Star Trek: The Next Generation S04E16 - "Galaxy's Child"

    25/03/2021 Duración: 01h40min

#185 In this episode of Trek TV we discuss Star Trek: The Next Generation S04E16 - "Galaxy's Child". Hosted by Tracy and Vaughn. Guest starring Derek, Jared, and (eventually) Dustin. Hey, so excited to finally meet, we've heard so much about you! You're a big fan of performing caesarean sections on big space perogies too, right? Oh, how'd we know that? We just happened to see your name on the signup sheet for Dr. Tracy's 15-Minute C-Section C-minar, that's all. And you're also not alone in your frequent curiousity about the muddiness of the dump, or your love of both making fun of and having surprisingly nuanced discussions about awkward creepy behaviour, either! Just something we overheard. Now, it may seem like we know a suspicious amount about you, but that's just because you're among friends here at Trek TV. Maybe... good friends? Also, while you enjoy this totally non-creepy episode of Trek TV, why not consider making your passwords a bit more secure? No particular reason, just friendly concern. Whoops,

  • Trek TV Episode 184 - Star Trek: The Next Generation S04E15 - "First Contact"

    17/03/2021 Duración: 01h40min

#184 In this episode of Trek TV we discuss Star Trek: The Next Generation S04E15 - "First Contact". Hosted by Tracy and Vaughn. Guest starring Derek and Jared. Listen, we all know why you're here on this one, so let's cut right to the chase: yes, this IS the episode where a guy tries to absolutely murder Riker in a hospital with a massive length of inexplicable surgical copper pipe, and don't worry, we definitely cover it with all the care and attention it deserves. Plus, we FINALLY point out the mysterious Ten Forward regular who's always wearing the orange shirt and brown slacks (ps. it turns out he's not the waiter from Lower Decks). But it's not all fun and games, as our consideration of arguably the BEST SCENE IN THE ENTIRE SERIES leads to some shockingly serious considerations of the questions it raises about the nature of consent under duress and double standards... don't worry though, because we still fit in a LOT of dick jokes. Like, probably too many. Really, that and the rest of it likely cancels a

  • Trek TV Episode 183 - Star Trek: The Next Generation S04E14 - "Clues"

    09/03/2021 Duración: 01h11min

#183 In this episode of Trek TV we discuss Star Trek: The Next Generation S04E14 - "Clues". Hosted by Tracy and Vaughn. Guest starring Derek & Jared. Mysteries! We humans just love solving'em. But did you know that the solution to more than 95% of mysteries are at best just severely unsatisfying, if not deeply disappointing, and that's when they don't just lead to your wholesale destruction? So the next time you stumble upon a tantalizing trail of clues, just remember this simple rule: "Myster-E? Let it B!" This important public service announcement is brought to you by this week's episode of Trek TV; if you'd like to learn more, listen in as we further detail the dangers of deductive reasoning while also discussing such non-mysterious things as weird pink moss balls, brief glimpses of luscious centuries-old alien gams, the indescribable power of a good space ham, and more. But be aware: there MAY be some rare mention of clues. Visit our website for fan art, news and more!

  • Trek TV Episode 182 - Star Trek: The Next Generation S04E11 - "Devil's Due"

    02/03/2021 Duración: 01h51min

#182 In this episode of Trek TV we discuss Star Trek: The Next Generation S04E11 - "Devil's Due". Hosted by Tracy and Vaughn. Guest starring Dustin, Derek, & Jared. Well, we were certainly due for it, but Vaughn and Tracy must have royally cheesed off the Devil with this one because Ol' Scratch done gone ahead and claimed their souls; which is to say, he spirited their audio track away straight to Hell. Thankfully, we're wise to that original flim-flam demon's tricks and our backup recording was safely hidden away from their... dumb pitchfork thing? So no need to have sympathy for us, dear listeners; reserve that for yourself, as our constant paranoia of imminent damnation means you get to enjoy all the devil-skin tight outfits, high-pitched shrieks, and absolutely staggeringly lengthy digressions of this double-wide episode of Trek TV in basically listenable quality! See ya in hell! Visit our website for fan art, news and more!

  • Trek TV Episode 181 - Star Trek: The Next Generation S04E12 - "The Wounded"

    20/02/2021 Duración: 01h23min

#181 In this episode of Trek TV we discuss Star Trek: The Next Generation S04E12 - "The Wounded". Hosted by Tracy and Vaughn. Guest starring Derek & Jared. An episode that doesn't just introduce the ever-duplicitous, extemely over-necked Cardassians, but finally shines a proper spotlight on everyone's favorite put-upon transporter chief?! Spoon us up a heaping helping of that delicious O'Brian-brand slop, please! Just don't expect simply a pleasant, relaxing meal, as we dig deep into the messy enigma that is The Chief and discover some SHOCKING truths that reveal far more than we ever bargained for. Also rogue captain, Picard narrowly averts war yadda yadda yadda but come on we know what we're really here to see. So make sure your air intake is clear, hum your favorite war ditty, and try not to look directly at the terrible Gul facial hair as you partake in our OWN special pile of slop that is Trek TV! Visit our website for fan art, news and more!

  • Trek TV Episode 180 - Star Trek: The Next Generation S04E11 - "Data's Day"

    10/02/2021 Duración: 01h31min

#180 In this episode of Trek TV we discuss Star Trek: The Next Generation S04E11 - "Data's Day". Hosted by Tracy and Vaughn. Guest starring Derek & Jared. Just what does Data get up to in a typical day? Oh, nothing that different than you or I. Pets his cat. Runs the night shift. Crushes the bones in his partner's feet trying to learn how to dance. Almost destroys a friend's wedding because he apparently has never consumed or internalized any romance fiction. Narrowly avoids stopping a massive Federation intelligence breach. You know, pretty humdrum stuff. Don't worry though, it's not all this boring routine; they manage to make up for that with some of the most exciting barbershop action you could imagine! So put on your least uncanny wig, stop crouching behind that shrub, and enjoy another unexpectedly hair-heavy episode of Trek TV, you lunkhead! Visit our website for fan art, news and more!

  • Trek TV Episode 179 - Star Trek: The Next Generation S04E10 - "The Loss"

    26/01/2021 Duración: 01h02min

#179 In this episode of Trek TV we discuss Star Trek: The Next Generation S04E10 - "The Loss". Hosted by Tracy and Vaughn. Guest starring Dustin, Derek, & Jared. It's time for special conceptual episode of Trek TV! That's right, in order to allow you, the listener, to truly feel poor Counselor Troi's devastating loss of a vital sense, we've cleverly made a good portion of the audio on this one rather painful to listen to! Or maybe it's just an unfortunate side effect of damaged neckmeat. Sorry! We're just a couple 2D (aurally) chuckleheads trying to get by in this crazy 3D world. Relatedly, this is another of several episodes we had to record together in advance, so we couldn't get any emails in. Don't worry, you'll hear them eventually! In the meantime, why not grab your favorite inexplicable crystal, climb on the most docile steed you can find, and call all your daddies (at least 50) over to enjoy this generally audible episode of Trek TV! Visit our website for fan art, news and more!

  • Trek TV Episode 178 - Star Trek: The Next Generation S04E09 - "Final Mission"

    16/01/2021 Duración: 01h30min

#178 In this episode of Trek TV we discuss Star Trek: The Next Generation S04E09 - "Final Mission". Hosted by Tracy and Vaughn. Guest starring Derek & Jared. Just in time for several weeks after Christmas! We put off this episode knowing it meant saying goodbye to our beloved Wesley, but then we realized he comes back a couple times so... whatever. Instead, we invite you to celebrate a new year by joining your favorite liquorhounds in a dirty whiskey drink on a scalding hot desert moon, but please... don't dribble it into your mouths via someone's filthy mitts. That's a priviledge reserved for captains only! Visit our website for fan art, news and more!

  • Trek TV Episode 177 - Star Trek: The Next Generation S04E08 - "Future Imperfect"

    18/11/2020 Duración: 01h08min

#177 In this episode of Trek TV we discuss Star Trek: The Next Generation S04E08 - "Future Imperfect". Hosted by Vaughn. Guest starring Derek & Jared. The future may be imperfect, but our timing could barely have been moreso as we revisit this episode damn near exactly on the 30th anniversary of its airdate! What's that, the timing seems a little suspicious, you say? Well, we can assure you that this convenient timing and all the minor episode glitches and delays leading up to this episode mean nothing, and we think this episode will give you everything you wanted, including virtuoso trombone performances, fond recollections of some classic holodeck entertainment, and startling observations of Klingon cake etiquette. You'll be very happy if you just stay with this unsettlingly ideal episode of Trek TV! Please, stay. We're so lonely, and the holosqueezers only help so much.
