  • PP#83 – Lessons from a spirituality skeptic

    02/05/2016 Duración: 01h10min

Spirituality cannot be defined, explained, fully understood or practiced in the same way from one person to another. As a spirituality sceptic growing up, I have learned to embrace the spiritual lifestyle which has expanded my consciousness and my ability to see everyone, including myself, as a piece of a much larger and unified puzzle. In this episode I walk you through a 10 minute meditation practice, explain my evolution as a religious and spiritual being, read some of my favorite Hindu and Buddhist texts, share how I practice spirituality on a daily basis, and discuss my opinion on the use of plant medicines in ones spiritual evolution. • PP#81: How to deal with vegan haters and negative social media criticism

    18/04/2016 Duración: 36min

Being a social media content creator is not always easy. When you put yourself out there for the world to judge, there are certain people who will take advantage of your vulnerable position in an attempt to put you down. Those people are the haters, people who make senseless comments attacking you that are often times more entertaining then they are truly offensive. As a YouTuber I also get constructive criticism comments which are negative in nature but are usually really helpful so I can create better videos to help the vegan movement and my own channel. In this episode my girlfriend Izzy Davis and I read some of our hater and criticizing comments and discuss how we deal with negative feedback of all kinds on social media. • PP#80: Gabriella Palko – How animal agriculture is destroying the planet and what we can do to stop it

    11/04/2016 Duración: 01h07min

I transferred out of art school to an environmentally focused liberal arts college because I wanted to work within the establishment in order to enact environmental change for our planet, the animals that occupy it, and own human species. While I will be graduating in weeks with a degree in Environmental Policy, pursing environmental law or an academic career in general is not my path. It turned out that the vision I had of what the world needed, a young vegan environmental policy maker, was meant to be filled by my good friend Gabby, not me. Gabby is also a senior environmental policy major at Colorado College, and recently wrote an astonishingly impressive 127 page undergraduate thesis on the harmful impacts of animal agriculture and what we can do to stop it. Gabby is a vegan activist, athlete, skier and aspiring environmental lawyer interested in focusing on food and agriculture policy. She is a true inspiration to me as a friend, activist, and fellow student. PLEASE help support the Plantriotic Podcast a

  • PP#78: David Wolfson – Superman of the animal rights movement

    28/03/2016 Duración: 01h01min

Before David Wolfson...farm animals had no protective rights over their bodies or lives. As a punk rocker growing up in England, David developed a connective to both animal and human rights that has remained in his heart throughout his professional career as a corporate lawyer for Milbank Tweed in NYC. While David is a corporate lawyer during his day job, he has done pro bono work for decades on behalf of animal rights organizations like Farm Sanctuary, Humane Society of the United States and Mercy For Animals. David has passed more laws to protect animals lives in factory farms than any individual on the planet. David is a true hero of the animal right movement and also works as a professor at NYU in the animal studies department. • PP#77: SeaWorld Announces No More Killer Whale Show

    21/03/2016 Duración: 51min

SeaWorld has finally succumbed to popular demand and has discontinued their orca breeding program in addition to their killer whale theatrical shows. Organizations like Peta, HSUS and individuals like Steveo and the creators of Blackfish have been at the forefront of protesting SeaWorlds unethical practices. This announcement is a massive victory for the animal rights movement and is a sign for the changing times as people and businesses begin to wake up to the importance of animal rights. • PP#76: Nicolas Delon – Philosophizing about the moral status of animals

    14/03/2016 Duración: 01h17min

The question that decides the fate, happiness and safety of tens of billions of sentient beings on this planet is whether or not animals deserve some level of moral rights to live a fair life free of captivity and suffering. In 2016, the disturbing reality is that most sentient animals have little to no rights and are considered by law and many industries to be inanimate forms of property rather then individuals and people. Nicolas Delon is a philosopher and professor at NYU teaching in the revolutionary and pioneering field of animals studies. Animal studies operates under the wing of the Department of Environmental Studies at NYU and provides students with a minor degree in the moral, environmental and political impacts our relationship with animals raised for food, clothing and medical testing have in our modern world. Nicolas, who is a part of the Animal Studies Initiative, and the department teach undergraduate classes and offer public events to educate and provoke questions to the student body and NYC

  • PP#74: Mike Callicrate – Cattle rancher & part-time vegetarian

    29/02/2016 Duración: 01h15min

Mike Callicrate is not like the typical Plantriotic Podcast guest...and he is also not the typical cattle rancher and beef supplier. Mike is a local farmer who has been working for decades to defend the small farm lifestyle and business model from massive food corporations that are trying to consolidate food production while polluting the environment and harming animals in the process. Mike served as an advisor on the books Omnivores Dilemma, Fast Food Nation, and the films Fresh and Food Inc. Mike also sued IBP (later bought by Tyson Foods) for alleging unfair and discriminatory marketing practices. Mike now supplies beef to the major cities of Colorado and is in charge of the entire process from raising the animals, to slaughter, processing, and distribution.
