Have you ever experienced a time when your faith was really weak? You felt anxious and fearful, and you were barely hanging on spiritually? Here is this chapter's main point or central theme: God’s tender patience extends beyond our fragile faith. • DANIEL Chapter TWELVE

    30/12/2023

In this final chapter, we see two groups of people. You are either a Christian who has been saved by grace, or you are a non-Christian who lives in rebellion against God. There is no in-between group of people. This is a discussion about the last days and that period of intense tribulation that will come upon the world. In every age, there is tribulation. We are living in a time of tribulation right now—there is suffering, there is spiritual warfare, there is persecution, and it is very intense in other parts of the world. But the Bible teaches that there will be a period of intense tribulation right before Christ comes back. How do we live as faithful believers in a sinful world as we await Christ’s return? We are to live as those who are wise as opposed to those who are wicked.

  • DANIEL Chapter ELEVEN

    27/12/2023

Begin the new year with Sean's new book, 40 Days in Philippians: Finding Joy in Jesus. You can purchase it from the G3 website here: https://g3min.org/shop/books/g3press/40-days-in-philippians-finding-joy-in-jesus-sean-cole/?mc_cid=49311f516a&mc_eid=d2c09c6b6d Daniel Chapter 11 is one big history lesson as it unfolds significant events in world history. What we have before us is an amazing section of Scripture because it is not history but prophecy. This material was written and given to Daniel years before these events happened. This passage has baffled the liberal theologians because they can’t believe that Daniel would have been so specific about future events that they think it was not written by Daniel but written after these events occurred. We know that all Scripture is God-breathed and without error, so we stand with utmost confidence today and say that this prophecy of events came true in history to the “T.” The inerrancy of Scripture is under attack today.

  • DANIEL Chapter TEN

    26/12/2023

Begin the new year with Sean's new book, 40 Days in Philippians: Finding Joy in Jesus. You can purchase it from the G3 website here: https://g3min.org/shop/books/g3press/40-days-in-philippians-finding-joy-in-jesus-sean-cole/?mc_cid=49311f516a&mc_eid=d2c09c6b6d Daniel 10 shows us the spiritual battle happening in the heavenlies behind the cosmic curtain. Spiritual warfare is real. God is sovereign and allows this warfare to happen for His purposes alone. What we experience here on earth may sometimes be due to the spiritual conflict in the heavens. Prayer is vital to this battle. God delays answers to prayer for us to grow in godliness and to conform more to the image of Jesus. What indeed strengthens us in this cosmic conflict is to think about and glory in the overwhelming, blazing majesty of a sovereign God.

  • Leighton Flowers Misinterprets Genesis 50:20

    22/12/2023

Sean shows how God can ordain all things that come to pass without (1) God being the author or direct cause of sin, (2) God not violating free will or forcing sinners to sin, and (3) God uses secondary causes to accomplish His decree.

    20/12/2023

  • Why I am NOT a DISPENSATIONALIST

    08/12/2023

You can purchase Sean's new book from G3 Press called 40 Days in Philippians: Finding Joy in Jesus here: https://g3min.org/product/40-days-in-philippians-finding-joy-in-jesus-sean-cole/ On October 7th, the Palestinian terrorist group Hamas did the unthinkable and attacked Israel, killing over 1200 people and taking hostages in the Gaza Strip. This horrific, despicable action has caused many Christians to think about America's relationship with the nation of Israel. It has also elevated heated arguments related to end-times positions--especially dispensationalism. Dr. Sean Cole is a 1689 Federalist, Reformed Baptist who holds to covenant theology. In this podcast, he gives FIVE reasons why he is not a dispensationalist.

  • Why Do PROVISIONISTS deny Original GUILT?

    07/12/2023

You can purchase Sean's new book from G3 Press called 40 Days in Philippians: Finding Joy in Jesus here: https://g3min.org/product/40-days-in-philippians-finding-joy-in-jesus-sean-cole/ Dr. Sean Cole interacts with Provisionist scholar Dr. Adam Harwood and his understanding of original sin and guilt. Reformed Baptists affirm both original sin and original guilt as developed in the 1689 Second London Baptist Confession. How has this view changed over the years? Sean compares the 1689 with the 3 versions of the Baptist Faith and Message. The 1925 affirms a modified view of original guilt, but under the anti-Calvinistic leadership of Herschel Hobbs, the 1963 version makes a drastic change. Listen and find out the differences on this topic.

    05/12/2023

In Judges Chapter 5, we see Deborah and Barak invite Israel to sing a song of praise to God for His victory. • DANIEL 9:20-27

    21/11/2023

In the middle of his prayer, the angel Gabriel comes to Daniel with a word of comfort and begins to tell him about the future and to give him an answer to his prayer. Historically, there have been two predominant ways to interpret this difficult passage. Number One: The Traditional Messianic Interpretation This passage is a prophecy about the first coming of Jesus, His death on the cross, and the destruction of Jerusalem in A.D. 70 by the Roman army. Number Two: The Dispensational Interpretation This views the prophecy as a great parenthesis between the 69th and 70th week. When the 70th week begins, the antichrist will appear and make a covenant with the Jewish nation, promising them seven years of peace. The physical temple will have been rebuilt during this time, and the sacrificial system will be re-instituted. In the middle of this, at 3 ½ years, he will break this covenant and end the temple worship, ushering in the Great Tribulation. Since Sean is Reformed and holds to Covenant theology, he ho

  • Who Alone Gets the Glory? JUDGES 4

    21/11/2023

You can purchase Sean's new book from G3 Press called 40 Days in Philippians: Finding Joy in Jesus here: https://g3min.org/product/40-days-in-philippians-finding-joy-in-jesus-sean-cole/ God alone gets the glory in salvation, even through the sinful actions of responsible humans. How do human responsibility and God’s absolute sovereignty work together? In theological terms, we call this compatibility. This account of four characters--Deborah, Barak, Sisera, and Jael shows us how God conquers His enemies through human agents but still gets all the glory. You can watch this sermon on Youtube here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E_ryhTsbCY0

  • DANIEL 9:1-19

    16/11/2023

We see a recorded prayer from Daniel to the living God, which gives us a powerful template or example of how we should pray. We see Daniel's attitude in prayer and then three aspects of the prayer itself: Adoration, Confession, and Petition. And most importantly, we see the basis or foundation for his prayer.

  • Assassinating the Sin of Idolatry JUDGES 3:12-30

    16/11/2023

The following Judge after Othniel is Ehud, from the tribe of Benjamin. This section is comical, contains some PG-13 humor, and will leave us scratching our heads about God’s plan to save Israel from its enemies. Here is this passage of Scripture's central theme or main idea: Idols will only let you down and enslave you! John Calvin said, “The human mind is a perpetual factory of idols…men have in almost all ages since the world began, set up imaginary idols before their eyes to take the place of God.” The left-handed Ehud assassinates the enemy King Eglon. This shows us a deeper spiritual issue about the gospel of salvation and how we kill sin with the double-edged sword--the Word of God. • The Role of the HOLY SPIRIT in the OLD TESTAMENT Judges 3:9-10

    05/11/2023

How were the Old Testament saints saved? Were they saved the same way we are today? How did the Holy Spirit work in the Old Testament, and more specifically, in what ways did He operate on individual Old Testament believers? In this sermon, Pastor Sean answers these two questions. He shows how the Covenant of Grace announced in Genesis 3:15 is the foundation for the salvation of OT saints. He also argues that OT believers were regenerated and indwelt by the Spirit. He also shows how the role of the Holy Spirit is vital for communion with Christ in the Lord's Supper. You can watch this sermon on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TCtP-UYCdmc

  • God's Discipline and the Repeated Cycle of Sin JUDGES 3:1-11

    02/11/2023

Verses 1-6 give us the thesis or central teaching of the book of Judges. The LORD disciplines His people because they have been paganized by the world around them. In verses 7-11, we first see this cycle that will be repeated throughout the book of Judges, and it involves seven steps. First, Israel does evil, which angers the LORD. Second, the LORD disciplines Israel by selling them under the oppression and distress of a foreign enemy. Third, the people cry out in anguish for relief. Fourth, the LORD raises up a Spirit-empowered judge to save Israel. Fifth, the LORD grants victory over the enemy. Sixth, the land has a period of rest from war and oppression. Seventh, the judge dies, thus removing his restraining influence on Israel’s sin. Pastor Sean concludes the sermon by showing how this passage points to God's grace in the gospel of Christ. www.seancole.net
